A Heaping Spoonful

It takes a lot to make up my mind

But once made up it takes even more to stop me

I decided that the life that I was living was not the life that I needed to live

So I set about to change

Slow and arduous was the progress

Difficult was my task

Bitter was the sweet reward of change

Everyday challenged my resolve

Every night tortured me with temptation

The end result was change

Not the pretty picture that I had seen in my mind's eye

But necessary just the same

It was a heaping spoonful and a big bite out of life
