It was a calm day at the Indiana Dunes beach. The sun was shining, the waves crashed against the coast, and it was the perfect day to have a picnic. Lily set a towel on the sand and opened up her picnic basket. Her dog Lucy came trotting down the beach with a Frisbee in her mouth.

"I got the Frisbee," Lucy said. "Awesome!" Lily said. "I was just getting lunch ready." "Ooh! Can I have some?" Lucy exclaimed. Lily laughed. "Maybe Lucy."

The rest of the day at the beach was quiet. Storm clouds rolled over the beach. Lily rushed to her car and unlocked the doors. Lucy hopped inside the shelter of the car. Lucy shook the cold water off of her fur. Lily grumbled. The last day of the weekend. Rain. Ruined. She started the forty-five minute drive home. Although the day at the beach was ruined, she would be going on vacation to Florida pretty soon though.  Lily took the key, her hair very wet from the rain, she opened the door to her house. Home. Lucy waltzed inside and took a nap. Lily opened up her laptop and gazed in wonder at the trip that she had wanted to take for three years.

It was 9:10. Lily closed her laptop and slowly shuffled to her room. School would start again tomorrow. Life was back to normal.

"Good night Lucy," Lily whispered. Lily reached for the light switch and drifted off into her dreams.
