At the dread of night, the moon cast a glistened glow on the cottage below. Standing a few feet away from the cottage, stood a woman; who looked like she was in her early twenties.
Next to her was a stingy sign that read "Doctor's Office", beneath that it said in capitals "ALL PATIENTS ARE WELCOME! UNLESS YOU ARE PART OF THE KINGS ARMY THEN YOU'RE UNWELCOME" Like who wouldn't think that would be suspicious?
"You have got to be kidding me." The Woman finally said under her breath as if she was not pleased to be here.
Why couldn't the doctor have given her her baby yesterday? What was so special bout hers that he had to keep her for a day? What if he is molesting her right now? She thought worryingly, or perhaps her precious baby was in danger.
Before she went inside to get her daughter, she remembered yesterday's events like it were flashing through her eyes once again.
It was one of those times, where a woman goes through a hell load of emotions as soon as their precious baby was born. But what was meant to be a loving memory soon turned into a heartbreaking memory.
A mother is meant to be the one who had to caress her baby for the first time; however, that never got to happen. That doctor took that special moment away and she could forgive him for doing that. But what she could not forgive was the fact that she couldn't have her baby until the next day.
It only took that one sentence to break her very heart...
"I'm sorry but I have to take some tests on your baby before you can have her."
As soon as those words came tumbling out of his mouth, her life crashed down on herself. Nonetheless without breaking down she kept all the dignity that she had left and acted as if she was okay.
Many thoughts came down such as does she have a disease? Is there something wrong with her weight? Could she be defected? Does she only have a few days to live? All these questions didn't exactly help calm her state of mind so she had to ask.
"Is there something wrong?" She asked him, biting her lip. Hoping that he would be able to soothe her subconscious and stop her thoughts from bombarding her mind.
The doctor remained unmoved by her question, since he has to deal with this every time he gets pregnant mothers at his doorstep. There was nothing to worry about really, it's just a precaution he has to take; to see if the baby is healthy.
"There is nothing wrong, it's what I do with everyone's baby." He answered her question with ease.
Looking at her confused expression, it seemed like she didn't quite understand why he would have to do this and, quite frankly, she had never been to a doctor before. Technically this was her first time and to be quite honest with you; she didn't really want to go in the first place.
But her husband had insisted that she should go, the last time she attempted to give birth to a baby was full of heartwrenching sorrow.
With a sigh, she didn't question his intentions and simply let the doctor have his way for now.
*It's only the first draft so it will probably be edited once I finished writing the whole book*
