This world is not fair, There are cruel, evil people out there that life to torment others

I don't easily trust, family or friends. All because of one man.

The cold air pricked my skin and the smell of iron and copper surrounded me, looking around it was hard to make out anything in the darkness that surrounded me.

Footsteps began to get closer, frozen in fear I didn't look up to meet the eyes of the person standing above me, feeling the intense gaze and the hate that echoed off the figure. I braced myself as pain shot through my head as something came into contact.

As I lay on the cold stone floor, my vision blurry black muddy boots walked away leaving me alone in the darkness.

——

5 years old was a simpler time, no pain or disappointment. I was outside playing on the swing when i heard a car pull into the drive way round the front of the house, the gravel crunching under the tires.

I jumped down off the swing heading into the house through the kitchen to the front door where my grandma was glowing with delight at who she saw, i looked around her legs and my full face light up with joy, my father.

"Daddy!" i shouted whilst running past grandma and right into his arms, it felt like forever, breathing him in, woodsy with a hint of cinnamon which gives me the greatest of comfort. My father travels all around the world for work, it sometimes feels he is planets away. This time he had been away for two months.

"Sweet pea, look how you have grown" he smiled with joy, lifting me into the air and spinning me around, my blond wavy hair flowing around me in the wind. Unfortunately happy memories are sparse within this house.
