Great. Just great. It's my first day back at school and I overslept. That's just my luck. Hmpfffff. I look over to my alarm clock to read 8.36am. Ughh I hate early school mornings. I reach over to my bedside table and pick up my phone. 3 new messages

Ughh. I guess I've missed the bus. Why didn't my alarm wake me up?
Why didn't my dad wake me up?
I quickly throw on my school uniform, a bit of lip gloss and pull my hair up into a ponytail. I grab my bag and phone and head downstairs to find my dad sat at the table with his head In his hands.
"Thanks for waking me up!" I say, sarcastically. But he doesn't look up or even flinch. "I'm good thank you! Thanks for asking!" I say. Still no movement. "Dad?" I ask, walking over to him. He lifts his head, slightly. "Hey, sweet cheeks. Sorry, you Okay?" He asks carelessly. "Well no one woke me up for school....speaking of which... I gotta shoot I'm already half an hour late. Bye!" I walk out the door shutting it behind me. I take a shortcut through a back ally. I turn around and see a dark figure following me. I start to pick up the pace, not wanting to find out what he will do if he catches up with me. My heart is beating fast and my breath is loud. The figure gets closer to me, making my heart pound with every step. I look round at the figure walking behind and turn back.
"Hey gorgeous!" Noah teases making me jump. I look at him and then look behind to see the figure is gone. "Wow Noah, you scared me!" I stammer.
"And wasn't it a pleasant surprise? He smirks. "I think someone was following me" I say, turning back. "Chill babes, no one's there" he says. "Okay, first, there was someone following me and second, never call me that again!" I rage.
"Sure thing, babes" he sniggers.
I push past him and carry on walking. "Come on, Mona! I was joking around, you don't have to leave." He calls after me. "I know. But I gotta go to school." I walk off, and turn and see him lighting a ciggy. "Note to self: boys never change" I mutter.
I get to school and walk up to reception desk. I sign the late form and walk off to my home room. I walk down the hallways and look at the artwork on the walls. Art is the only thing that interests me at school. I walk up to my home room door and open it to find my class inside sprawling themselves over the desks. I walk over to my friends and slump down onto the empty stool next to them.
"Hey! Where have you been, Mona?" Lex asks.
"Haha, I overslept." I giggle.
"Typical!" Aria laughs.
The teacher walks in and the boys in the corner sit down behind the desks.
"Morning class. I'm sorry the traffic has been crazy this morning." She apologises.
At break we sit under the big oak tree and share a bag of Cheetos. "So how was everyone's summer?" Bobby asks. "I went to Spain and visited my grandma" Lex replies. "Nice. I went and stayed in a luxury hotel in Greece." Aria says. "That sounds amazing. What about you Mona?" I look over to him. "Oh, nothing much just went to some beaches and stuff." I don't tell them about my sister. I don't tell them that she has a tumor.
