Makoto can't take it any longer. He felt his heart being tired. But that was not the end of it. 'Cause now, he can feel nothing. Just like an empty shell. And that's how he realized how unimportant he was. His existence. All that he did, they were not enough. He thought that everything was fine, but it's not. He never imagined he will reach this limit. Not for Haru.
He's been always there for him. But all Haru sees is Rin. Even tho Haru chose to live in Tokyo for his dream. Makoto was happy to see his best friend doing his very best to reach the dream he found. But then, at the end of it, there was still Rin. Rin. Rin. A connection between Rin and Haru that Makoto cannot break. He thought that his connection with Haru was bigger and stronger. But he was wrong. And he can't bear it anymore. He needs to distance himself, or else he will be totally empty.
At last, I'm done with the final exam. I could now focus on finding a new place to move, Makoto thought. Haru was in Australia right now, competing against Rin. He knew how much Haru worked hard for this time to come, wherein he will face his old pal again. Rin made Haru realize his dream. Makoto hoped it was him who helped his friend, instead of that shark.
"I guess my role is done." Makoto said to himself. He can still remember Haru's face when the latter told him he will meet Rin again. Full of excitement. His blue eyes were shining. How Makoto's wish he was the reason of those happiness Haru felt. But he finally understand that he will never be like Rin. Rin will always have a special place in Haru's heart, more special than Makoto.
Makoto started to pack his stuff while listening to his favorite songs. He needs some noise to filled the air, or else he will end up on remembering the memories he had with Haru in this apartment.
It was already time for bed when Makoto heard the vibration of his phone indicating of a new message.
From: Haru
Message: I won. I'm going to spend the night in Rin's place. Cheaper than hotel room.
Makoto's heart tightens upon reading the message. Although he was happy for Haru's success, he just doesn't want to hear anything about Rin for now.
To: Haru
Message: You did it Haru-chan! Nagisa and Rei will be happy once they hear the news. When are you coming back? Say 'hello' to Rin for me.
From: Haru
Message: Drop the 'chan', will you? Be back 2 days from now. Rin said he will take me to the ocean tom. He also said 'hello'.
2 days? It's too early. He won't be able to moved that fast.
To: Haru
Message: That's great! Take your time, Haru. Why don't you stay there for a week?
From: Haru
Message: Why?
Makoto doesn't know what he will reply back. Come on. Think. Think.
To: Haru
Message: Sightseeing.
It took almost 10 minutes before Haru replied with simple "Okay".
Makoto knows that Haru feel suspicious on him. He knows Haru that well, and vice versa. They can see thru each other, but then, they can't at the same time. He decided to rest his mind to gain strenght for tomorrow's packing. Somehow, he can predict that Haru will be back less than a week. Before then, Makoto needs to be sure he left already, hidden from the most important person of his life. He have to do this. For his heart.
3 days passed.
Makoto's luck came. He was able to move in a smaller but comfortable place, still in Tokyo. He received his exam results and passed all of them. There's a job offered to him as a coach for children, just like his former part time job. He also changed his phone number and inform his family and told them not to give it to anyone, not even to Haru (though he saved Haru's number). Of course, they were confused, but then they didn't ask any further. Now, all he need is to wait for the graduation day.
"I wonder what is Haru's doing now." He stared at his window. He didn't notice the rain started to pour. How he wish he could hear Haru's voice for just a moment.
It's been a month already and Haru still can't find his friend. He visits the apartment he rented but it was now empty. He went to his school but no one could give him information of where Makoto is. He tried to call Makoto's mom but no answer. He then decided to go to their house and asked the Tachibana family directly but they refused to tell him. Nagisa and Rei can't get of hold on him too. Not even Rin and Gou. Haru was out of ideas of where his best friend hiding. He knew there was something wrong when he asked him to stay in Australia for a week. And it kept on bothering him so he went home after 5 days. And now, he finds out Makoto is missing.
He left you. A small voice on his head keeps on telling him. Haru tried to ignore it but then, he can't stopped himself to ask 'why?'.
Why would he do that? Did I do something wrong?
He already did what everything he can but still no news about Makoto. Haru's last resort will be Makoto's graduation day. He knew, no, he hoped that his friend will attend the ceremony.
Makoto, where are you? Haru just wanted to see him.
