Kennedy_ _ _

"Kennedy? Kennedy?" Miss Galloway's  scratchy voice pulls me back to reality.
       "Yes?" I ask politely.
"I asked you if you understood why you were getting moved to another foster home?" I just sit there, already knowing the answer. It was the same as last time, and the time before that.
"I wasn't a good fit." I mumble. She purses her lips and nods.

"Look. Kennedy, you're seventeen now. And as much as I hate to admit this, girls your age don't get fostered for long ... let alone adopted. So as a representative of the state I am obligated to tell you that since your eighteenth birthday is coming up it is your decision if you want to go to another foster home or try to live by yourself. It's your decision."
"What are the pros and cons behind both of them?" I ask. She opens a drawer grabbing one large envelope and a file.
"Well, you could go to another foster home, with the chances of it turning out just like the rest. Or, you could take the savings your biological parents left you and we can relocate you and you can start over. A new life where you don't have to worry about being left behind or given away. We'll get you an apartment and furnish it, as well as pay for the first months rent. Take the second deal, you'll be far better off." I nod. On one hand I could rejected like I had so many times, or I could take care of myself. Honestly the thought of getting rejected again makes me want to ball.
"Where would I be getting relocated to?"

Queens_ _ _

Queens that's where I am getting relocated to. It's late fall and it's pretty cold here, it would take me a while to get used to this. A car door shutting behind me makes me turn. Miss Galloway stands there smiling. I smile back at her before turning around and staring at the apartment building in front of me.

"You're in apartment 12B. You're bags are already up there and as I said the whole place is furnished." I turn and nod at her. She holds out a key to me and I take it. "There is one more thing. You will be going to a new school here. I know that you like science and math so I applied you to Midtown high. It is very advanced in the way of science and mathematics. You'll fit in there." I nod. "Alright, it's time for me to go. Be safe Kennedy, I'll be checking in every few weeks." I nod again and she turns around. She gets in the car and I turn around, walking into the apartment building.
12B. 12B. Where are you 12B? How can finding an apartment be so hard? I go to the end of the hall and look at the numbers. I sigh exasperatedly when neither of them are 12B either. I look at the door on my left and decide to ask for help. I knock and wait for someone to answer. When the door open a thirty year old lady stands there.
"Can I help you?" She asks.

"Yeah, um, I am moving into apartment 12B and I can't seem to find it. Could you point me in the right direction please?" She smiles and nods.
"Of course, um let me just get my nephew to show you. Peter!" I smile and wait for her. When no one answers she sighs. "I'm sorry, why don't you come in and I will go get him." I nod and she opens the door wider for me to enter. As I stand and wait I look around the room. It was small but also roomy. The windows made it seem brighter and bigger.
"Hi, I'm Peter." I turn to look at a teenage boy, no older than me. "Sorry about that, I was listening to music and doing homework." He holds out his hand for me to shake. I shake it.

"It's fine." We stand there for a moment awkwardly before he clears his throat.

"So my Aunt May said you were looking for 12B?" I nod.
"I seem to have gotten lost somehow." He smiles and walks out of the apartment. I follow him as he walks down the hall a little ways.
"This is it, the numbers got changed around by some teenagers playing around." I nod again.
"Thank you, Peter. Um, by the way my name is-" A loud crash interrupts my words. I run to the window and outside there is a huge crash. I grab my phone out of my back pocket and dial 911.
"Hello 911 operator, what is your emergency?"
"Hello there is a pile up on 21st avenue. 7 cars that I can see."
"Thank you ma'am for the call, we have been informed of the situation and emergency vehicles have been dispatched."
"Thank you so much." I say before hanging up. I put my phone back in my pocket. "Peter, we should go hel-" I turn around but he is gone. I look out of the window and he isn't there either. All of a sudden something swings down to the ground and starts to help people. I look closer and see that it is a person in a skin tight red and blue suit. I stayed there and watched for a minute before the person stands up looking around to make sure they are all alright, or at least out of their vehicles. Then he looks at me, straight at me. Then something comes out of his hands and he swings onto the building. Before I know what I'm doing I book it to the door that says stairs and open it, running to the roof and opening it. I walk out onto the roof and look around. There, on the ledge of the building, the person is standing, as if watching over everyone. "Hey!" He turns and then makes another string out of his hand before swinging away. "Wait!" I run to the ledge, but he is already gone. "Who are you?" I mumble.
