Chapter 19 - A Day of Questions

Start from the beginning

The meeting went well. We just went over the usual points of the night - decorations, entertainment, food, drinks. Things like that and of course the usual snide remarks from Malfoy, he's lucky he didn't get expelled from Hogwarts after what he did to Lily. The thought of it even now makes my blood boil.

But I only realised at the end of the meeting that Lily had spoken a word since introducing us both. She stood there the whole time smiling and nodding at everything I said. The Slytherins almost threw up. Not that I'm complaining about a few Slytherins being out of the classroom but I don't think Lily has ever not said something in a presentation or meeting.

This day is turning out the be anything but ordinary.

Walking into the quidditch pitch I glance around the field and to the sky to judge whether the weather conditions will affect our practice. The sun was sinking over the castle, sending a dim blood-red light over the pitch. Only a few clouds but doesn't look like it will rain.

'Weather conditions are good, won't be an iss--,' I stop catching a glimpse of Lily in the window of the library 'Won't be an issue.' I finish turning to my team.

'What first captain?' Sirius says standing next to me and messing up my hair even more than usual.

I laugh shortly and practice begins.

Lily's P.O.V

Yeah, OK, whatever think I'm pathetic! I don't care, so what if I purposely sat in this exact seat and this exact time just so I could watch James' quidditch practice? What's wrong with that. James is my good friend, one of my best friends actually! So what if I want to watch his quidditch practice.

Then why don't you go watch in the stands then?
No reason
Well there is because Lily Evans thinks of everything, so there's obviously a reason
It's cold outside
Put on your Gryffindor scarf
I have NEWT's this year, I have studying to do, two birds one stone.
Well I don't see any books in front of you
How can you see? Your a voice in my head
Oh Lily just stop it! So what you love James? And tried to squash your feelings! If you want to watch the boy play quidditch just go out into the stands!

Ugh, OK. I'm just going to do it. What's the big deal? And there finished. How long have been sitting here? I glance at the clock. One hour?! I have been sitting here, with no books, nobody sitting with me, daydreaming and watching the quidditch practice for one hour?

I can't even be bothered to go to dinner, so I head straight up to the common room. The fire is still lit. I smile at the warmth that fills the room and banishes the cold.

'How long has the fire been lit?' James' voice rings out and makes my smile grow wider.

'Already back from practice?' I ask ignoring his previous question.

'Already back from the library?' He says ignoring my question.

'It was a bit boring after a while.' I say closing the portrait.

When I turn around James is looking at me wide eyed giving me a look as if I'd just snapped his broom in half.

'What?' I say dumbfounded.

'Did Lily Evans just say that the library was boring?' He says.

'Shut up.' I say.
