Chapter 1

I see space. Never ending space. My dreams always start like this while I float next to the stars. I pass several planets in the solar system until I circle back to earth. Suddenly, earth disappears and before I can see what replaces it, I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock. That's funny, earth never disappears in my previous dreams.

My older brother Alex pokes his head in my room. "Turn off your alarm, Allison."

"I know." I rolled off my bed and slapped the alarm clock. I zombie walked to the bathroom and put my tangled hair up in a messy bun.

After my morning routine, I walked to the kitchen and found a plate of fresh waffles waiting for me. I sat down at the two person table and started working on the waffles while Alex sipped his coffee looking fresh, like always. "You are going to be at work the whole day, right?" I asked him.

Alex set down his coffee and went to the sink to wash his plate and I set my plate next to his. "Yeah, the boss wants me and a few others to work more than usual while he looks for more employees. The café isn't looking too good right now. Anyways, I'll be getting paid more so it's fine." He explained as he dried his plate.

I grabbed my own plate and started to dry it. "Oh ok, I'll just walk home then."

Alex looked at me with an eyebrow raised. "I thought Liz's mom always dropped you home. Did you and Liz have a fight or something over the summer?"

I blinked two times confused. "Did I not tell you? Liz moved to Canada over the summer." I noticed how Alex still wasn't catching on. "Alex? Are you feeling ok?" I set a hand on his shoulder, which was at the same height as my head.

"No, you did tell me." He shook his head. "I forgot, sorry. I can ask my boss to give me a small break so I can pick you up."

"It's fine. I can walk home by myself." I started walking to my bedroom to get changed but Alex stopped me.

"Hey, are you sure you're going to be ok without Liz? She's your only friend, right?" He look at me with concerned eyes.

I smiled at Alex, he really worried a lot about me. "It doesn't matter, I think I can survive the rest of high school without Liz and plus, I can still talk to her through the phone." I gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "Stop worrying so much about me, worry about yourself for once."

I quickly changed into some clothes and brushed my snarly morning hair until straight, dark brown strands covered my back. I noticed my stormy blue eyes seemed bluer today. When I was younger, my eyes were bluer and so were Alex's. I grabbed my backpack and went to the front door.

Alex handed me my helmet and I hopped onto the motorcycle, holding onto Alex. "Hold on." He said.

[Alex's POV]

I dropped Alli off at her school and hurried to work. Her eyes were bluer today and so were mine, somebody must have traveled over. I just hope that whoever did is near us by coincidence.

[Allison's POV]

I entered the busy public school and I'm immediately surrounded in noise. Laughter, yelling, lockers slamming, and so many more that are drowned out in all the sounds. Usually I would be talking with Liz and walking to our favorite spot in the whole entire school: the unused classroom that everybody thinks is haunted. That was literally the only place that is truly free of the smell of sweat and the voices of loud teenagers.

I slipped in without anyone noticing since the classroom is in the quieter parts of the school. I looked around and saw that everything was coated in a layer of dust. Not even the janitor came in here anymore.
