Times were getting dark. It was already past the peaceful era since the Partevians attempted to claim Vinca as theirs and rebels had been causing trouble non stop. With or without the aid of the Partevian Empire, I would lead my people of Vinca to safety.
"Fina."
I turned to see who had called for me. With arms of steel and a mind as sharp as a spear, there was no doubt of how worthy Klaq was to be my companion for a life-long journey.
No.
Klaq was not my lover. We were merely cousins. "Yes, dear Klaq?" I responded. There was no doubt I was being sarcastic towards him.
"It appears the terror of the black djinn has settled down for now...." he said, walking closer to me. I could feel the couch pressured lower as he sat down beside me.
"Well, isn't that lovely? Now those Partevian bastards won't have any reason to force my people to war." I said. It was an evident fact that they had been torturing my kind. Resorting to kidnapping and abduction in the past few weeks, my patience had really ran out.
"Well, it is just an end to one problem," Klaq sighed in sorrow. "the Leam Magi Titus invited us to pay a visit. Probably for more reinforcements."
As my feelings shook, I stood up violently. "More!? We've sacrificed way too many! They ought to realise we do not wish to become soldiers. Besides...."
I sat back down again. My djinn of anger, Lithia, vibrated as a consequence of my emotions but it quickly settled down. "I only fight to protect. I do not wish to kill...."
Klaq stayed silent in contrast to my drastic mind. Why was Partevia being so persistent on conquering us? They had too much to spare already.
"Well, it's what we do." Klaq comforted. He patted my head like always and made sure I was listening. "We, out of all people, were given the duty."
I simply sighed. "Well, have a good sleep. Fortunately, the journey wouldn't be too stressful for you." he said. "Only if you don't snore at nights.." I teased.
Klaq gave me his meanest glare and chuckled. "Only if I found a wife earlier...I wouldn't be stuck with you."
I was about to throw a pillow at him but he quickly made off, escaping my fearsome wrath. Partevia, huh? I would see what puny tricks they would use then.
"Fina..."
I heard my name again. "Klaq?" My eyes opened drowsily. But no. It wasn't Klaq. It was my mentor. The man who taught every magic I had mastered and my tactics which had proven to be efficient in battle.
The man who left me a few years ago and only visited me in my dreams from time to time. The powerful soul whose existence had proven significant.
My one and only teacher.
"Yunan."
