"Now, I really got to go" Sienna said and practically ran out of the room.
"How did you..." Sean started to ask but I cut him off.
"I always thought your accent was weird. You speak semi British and semi american. You are a hybrid!"
"Thank you so much! People accused me of so many things before but not that! I'm honored!"
I took a spoonful of my soup into my mouth. How can I explain how heavenly it was? Sienna is definitely a good cook.
"So, are you British?" I inquired.
He laughed, "I'll tell you if you tell me."
"Sean" I said his name accusingly, "Can we get past that?"
"Not if you want to sleep tonight"
Fine. He asked for it. I am not responsible for the consequences of his choice. If he decides to hate me for what I am going to tell him and try to run away, I'm going to hold him down with all my strength and handcuff him to this bed. I'll make sure no one in this world will know that Sasha abducted Sean. Even Sienna won't be able to save him from me.
"I am an orphan" I started telling him, "I was in an orphanage till the age of 10. No one wanted to adopt me because I was a very reserved kid. I wouldn't talk to the people who came to see me, I wouldn't eat properly or listen to anything the nuns told me. After a point of time, the orphanage people wanted to get rid of me somehow because they were scared of me."
"Why were they scared of you?"
"At the rate I was going, they were scared I'll either kill myself or die of malnutrition. They literally jailed me. Someone or other would always keep an eye on me. I couldn't go out to play like other kids because they were scared I'll do something to myself. To be honest, If I knew how to, I would have done it. I never found the motivation to live."
He waited, listening to me patiently, without any expression on his face. Well, I doubt it would be the same as the tale continues. At one point, he has to break.
"And then one day, a couple came and said they wanted to adopt me. The nuns in the orphanage warned them about my bizarre behavior but they did not care. They said they wanted me because they felt a connect with me. The nuns were happy that a family had finally accepted to take me in. They were so happy that for once, even I was happy."
"Was the family good to you?" He asked.
I smiled, "They were. They didn't give me any reason to complain. They got me everything I wanted. They got me toys, food, clothes, accessories...the best of the world. And then they also got me educated. I was fifteen when I met Michael. He was a year older to me and lived in my neighborhood."
My hands started to shiver. Sean was quick to notice and helped me to lift the tray from my lap. I was almost done with the soup by then and we did not want to risk spilling it all over the sheets. Neither of us here were ready to visit the machines to get them washed. That would involve stepping out of the house and taking the flight of stairs to reach downstairs. Both of these lovely people presently think I am incapable of it.
"I liked Michael, Sean. He is very handsome. He is the only guy who attempted to talk to me. No one wanted to be friends with the strange girl who wouldn't talk to them even after trying for hours. But I wanted to talk to Michael. Because I felt he was a nice person. And that slowly built into something deeper. Whenever I looked at him, I used to think life is not that unworthy. You can give it a chance once to see how it would shape out. Both of us confessed to each other that we wanted to be together forever. I was seventeen when I told my parents about Michael." I shuddered at the memory.
