"Mayami?" Hart says, looking up at the night sky from his cot. Mayami sits up, her blond-white hair spilling over her shoulders.
"Yes, Hart?" she replies, wondering what he could possibly want at this time of night. "Can I tell you something?" Hart asks, still looking at the sky. Mayami immediately responds, saying, "Of course! What do you need?" Hart gazes at her for a moment before looking back at the sky. "It's about my past. You see, I wasn't exactly.. Always.. Human." Mayami perks up hearing this, and turns to look at him. Realizing he's serious, she asks, "If you weren't human, what were you?" Hart looks into her eyes and replies in a serious tone, "An angel." Mayami waits for him to laugh and tell her he's only joking, or that it's just a prank, but it doesn't happen. "You're.. Serious. An angel?" Hart nods slowly. Mayami asks, "Can you prove that?" Hart doesn't reply, but instead sits up. His eyes close as he begins to concentrate. After a few moments, two enormous raven's wings pop out of his back. Mayami's eyes widen. "Holy shit.. You weren't kidding." Hart nods, opens his eyes, and says, "I'm staging a revolt. Tomorrow. I'm going to get us and our village out of this hellhole." He grabs a teal-colored firefly and crushes it in his hand. Mayami asks, "Do you really think we can escape?" Hart says, "We have to." Mayami, still full of questions but too tired to ask them, lies back down on her cot and drifts off to sleep.
The revolt succeeded. Hart was injured, but he and Mayami managed to get on one of the escape boats. Mayami could only watch as one of the adults, scared of Hart's newfound power, stabbed him in the back and threw him overboard to die at sea.
