"Dude, that's not a fucking excuse." Jayden laughs. His words give me goosebumps as they come out. He was joking about the way I always sit in math class and stare out the window and end up getting in trouble because I don't pay attention. I've given him an explanation that my wild thoughts are controlling my mind and that was his response.
We're laying down on the grass as we watch the stars spread in the sky. I drink out of my red cup some beer. I like the way he stares at the stars, he makes me want to just go over the top with him but I don't do that. The loud music is giving me a headache but once his eyes lock on mine, it doesn't bother me anymore. Like we're in his world, reading each other's minds. Our silences have so much words to tell. He's been my "best friend" for two years, but age doesn't define our relationship or friendship, whatever it is that we are right now. I don't think I can handle much more of just sitting there watching his big, pinky lips speaking slowly and sexy to me. I get a little closer which feels wrong, because I know I might end up fucking him. I look back at the stars and I know he's still looking at me, waiting for me to look back. We both know that we have feelings mixed up together. And both of our parents would murder us if we started dating even though my parents like Jayden and they expect me to only be his friend, not more than that. It is impossible to believe my parents liking one of my friends because my parents never liked any of them. I stand up and pull my pants up, realizing that my boxers were showing the whole time (don't really care but, eh.) He stands up as well.
"Wanna go see what're the rest doing?" I say in excitement.
He shrugs. "Probably fucking each other up." We both laugh at this because it's true. They-in which our friends-always end up either messing around or strangely quiet. I take the first option in choice because we're at a seniors party and we're sophomores. It's getting real for us this time because we've never experienced those kind of parties last year even though there're a few freshmen's here. Turns out we were losers and I'm not even surprised.  We get inside and it's more crowded than before. A guy and a girl are standing on a table dancing together, almost naked. I roll my eyes on that but I like dancing, it kicks out my negative vibes. I take another cup (because I left the other one in the backyard and I'm not in the mood to go back there.), fill it up with some beer and catch up with Jayden, who seems to be dancing like a stripper and I laugh at that.
Hours later, after watching people getting high , and Jayden and I being shirtless . We join Scarrelet and Morgan the circle. Each time we play something different and this time we're playing "The seven second challenge." In which I hate because I'm not good with challenges. Scarrelet lets out a breath and starts with Jayden. She's really good at these games, thank heavens she didn't choose me.
"Okay Jayden, you have seven seconds to drink this bottle of beer." She says.
"What? That's lame, tell him to suck your nipples in seven seconds or something." Morgan snaps. I feel disgusted to even think about it. Just the thought of it is really just...weird. Scarrelet ignores that and claps her hands for him to snap out of it. She hands him the bottle and tells him to go. He puts his lips on that bottle as fast as he can and drinks without thinking, but he didn't make it.
"Oh yeah I forgot to tell you something," Scarrelet says as she sucks her finger to eat the cake next to her, without using a fork. "if you lose you have to deal with the consequences hun." She says with devilish eyes. I laugh at that. Actually, we all do except Jayden, who technically doesn't look okay. I touch his shoulders but he flinches. Shit. He's never been drunk before. We all stare at him then Scarrelet is back with that stupid game, deciding what she wants to do to him.
"You know I might put the sucking nipples as a choice." She says to Morgan and Morgan immediately nods to that. I look at her confused. Can't she see he looks like shit?
"No, we're not going to do that." I snap. A bunch of seniors come to play with her and I decide to take Jayden to the bathroom because his mouth opens about to throw up, but luckily he doesn't. He has an easy stomach.
"Yeah, I don't think he can continue the next round, Scarrelet." I say as I stand up ready to walk Jayden to the bathroom. She rolls her eyes and sighs, which means I should leave. I try to look for a bathroom but it's too crowded to even see what's going on. It gets more difficult because I have to walk Jayden with me as I climb up the stairs. I open the door and see two girls together, making out so I immediately close the door before they notice me. I cross my fingers for the door next to them will be the bathroom but once I open it, I regret it immediately.A guy on top of Claire, who's in our group, moaning and sweating from what she's feeling from whatever he's doing to her. "I'm fucker up man." Jayden says heavily, I half laugh at that because he said it wrong. I accidentally slam the door and search for a bathroom before they realize it was me who did that. Finally, a girl gets out of a room which clearly looks like a bathroom, I open the door and Jayden opens the toilet ready to throw up. Moments later and he lets it all out. I look away as he does it. I hand him tissues and he smiles. I think he's sober. I give him some gum but he refuses it.
"Dude, your breath smells like shit. Eat it." I demand.
"Fine." He whines.
I think about taking him back to my place but my parents don't need to see him like that. So I'll stick to the bedrooms they have here. I find one empty and occupy it before anyone else does. A huge bed with a desk on the side of the room that has pictures of the ocean and sunshines. I put him to bed and as I close the door I hear him calling me. "Atti, you there?"
I swing the door open and respond. "I'm here."
He opens his eyes but still unconscious. "Don't leave me."
