Wow! I can't believe we are doing this all over again!!! Leaving the life we have here. I have this awful feeling of Déjà vu whenever I think about it. I bet you are wondering what I'm talking about, so I guess I should start from the very beginning. I'm Minna Strong and I'm 13yrs old. I'm from one of the greatest countries in the world..... You guessed it, I'm from Nigeria 🇳🇬, I lived in Abuja, the place where dreams were made of, "kinda" and I was happy.
When I turned 2, on March 14, my mom, Ayodeji (better know as Ayo or AY) and my dad Azim (or has his friends called him, AZ) came to my nursery with my older sister, Mia (5yrs old at the time) and my older brother, Jaleel (4yrs old then). They brought me a cake and presents to celebrate my birthday. I took pictures with my class and they put on my candles. They sang to me but something just wasn't right, I couldn't hear my mom's clown voice that she did whenever she sang to me.
I searched for her in the large room with my eyes and noticed her by the door on a phone call. I strained my ears to hear what was so important that she almost missed my birthday party. When I finally heard past the noisemaking toddlers, what I heard shocked me.
"Yes, it it will be a dream come true to work side-by-side with the governor of Lagos state!" The phone buzzed and she said something else "I gladly accept your job offer, but I hope you don't mind I ask for me to confirm with my husband and kids." The person on the receiving end of the message said something that I could not hear but my mother calmly answered back to the person, who I soon found out was the assistant of the governor of Lagos state, "Yes, they are quite young but they will surely understand and wouldn't mind much."
I felt scared and I quivered a bit in my birthday boots. I got snapped out of my thoughts by my friends telling me to blow out the candles. I wished that we didn't have to move and I blew the candles out.
---------------------------------------——————A/N: so this is a brand new story because I legit hated my last one. Sorry if my updates are too slow, life is busy and I'm very busy with all the studying for the STAAR tests sooo bye. The cake is supposed to say Happy Birthday Minny but was to messy🤦🏾♀️
