Chapter 1 - Tactics

"So remember class I want the assignment completed to top quality; you have 6 weeks guys remember that!" Miss Collins repeated for the third time. I was sitting at the back of my last English class of the year... forever hopefully. I had my head resting on my palm as my eyes drifted towards the clock hanging from the wall.

I whispered "three....two....one"
I smiled as the last bell rang and everyone jumped out of their seats and rushed out the door, as if they were about to see the daylight for the first time. Veronica, or Ron, stood to face me as I got up and packed my books. She was the greatest best friend a girl could have.

"Ash!" She called from the Front of the class.
" I hope you haven't forgotten"
"of course not this took us ages to plan how could I forget?"
I turned my head to the door expecting Alex to be there with Liam waiting for us to join them. Liam...... the fittest boy in England. Me and Ron both had a crush on him. He was one of our close friends but I wanted more than that.

"Hurry up man we don't have all day!" Alex shouted from behind Liam. Alex was a bit of a jerk but a funny one, if that makes sense. He would be really obnoxious half the time but when he's nice, it's great, like he has two personalities.
Veronica and I picked up our bags and ran through the door. The four of us ran down the corridor to Megan's class to find her leaning against the door frame with a sly look on her face.
"finally" she moaned. Megan was like the chilled back one out of the five. She was quite ambitious but not as adventurous as Veronica. Veronica would do anything that would get her in trouble and never thinks of the consequences. It's always mine and Megan's job to resolve the situation and basically save her ass.

" let's fucking do this man lets not waste any more time. You's got the supplies yeah?" Alex said scanning the half empty corridor for anyone close by.
"Yeah, all ready to go" Ron said cheerfully. "Aren't we" she starred at Liam with her piercing eyes that carried incredibly long eyelashes that batted every time she looked at him.

Megan took the lead as she started walking towards the headteachers office near the main entrance. We followed closely behind her like a pack of wolves hunting for food. We stopped a few doors away from the heads office as we watched her walk casually out her door. She glares at her watch before removing the keys out of her bag and locking the door. I watched her carefully as she double checked the door was locked.
"Ready" I said not taking my eyes off of her. " I'll go and I'll give you the signal"
"Ok" Liam nodded as they all slightly hid themselves behind the corner of the wall.

I walked innocently towards miss Howard's direction before shouting.
"Miss! Miss Howard oh thank God I caught you in time" I acted out of breath, panting fast and loudly. I over took her and rested on the wall beside me so her back was to the others.
"Ashley what's wrong? Did you want to see?" She looked worried as if I had done something horrible. I brushed my fingers through my light brown hair which was the signal.
" Miss I just wanted to quickly give you a gift to, you know, say thank you for everything."
Alex came strolling quietly behind miss Howard, before he met her bag over her shoulder.
" I won't ever see you again" I continued" as it's my last year so I'll be moving on to college so I thought this would be a great time to give you this."

I slowly removed my bag from my back to stall time. Alex carefully unzipped her bag making unnecessary faces like squinting his eyes and sticking out his tongue.
" Aw well thank you Ashley but you really didn't have to. I mean after all it's my job so."
"Well I wanted to." I said as my face dropped from looking in my bag.
Everything was going as planned. I would say I left the gift at home while Alex sneaked the keys to her office, and everything else, from her bag.
" oh no.... miss I'm so sorry I must have left it at home" I said a bit too sarcastically. Alex looked up from the bag. He mimed " not yet!" With a worried look on his face.

"Oh Ashley.... I'm very busy i have to go." She spun round to face Alex who stood there blankly.
"Oh miss Howard, I was just coming to see you, how are you?" Alex said panicking.
"i'm fine thanks Alex but I really need to get going now you should too."
her opened bag was facing me now I glared inside and spotted the keys. why was Alex so slow. I looked up at her, Alex was making conversation, enough time for me to quickly but quietly grab those keys. I clenched them to prevent them from rattling. I quickly closed her bag and held the keys behind my back. I gave Alex a thumbs up.
" sorry Miss have a nice summer holiday." She smiled, sped walked out of the exit, and glanced at her watch one last time.

Megan, Veronica and Liam sprinted towards us as Miss Howwood disappeared.
"Have you got it?" Liam said excitedly.
"Yep" I held the keys up in front of me for them all to see.
"I knew it would work". Veronica said proudly. We arranged ourselves in a circle with the keys in the middle.
"Wow look at all these keys, how many doors does it all unlock?"
"I don't know." I said, observing every single key. "We just have to find out."
