Dinner

I slept for 5 hours. I got up to make dinner. I pulled the pasta out of the pantry. I started to boil the water, then I heard Sarah. "Yeah, I know.". I waved at her, but she just turned away.

Maybe she didn't see me. I strained the pasta and slightly burned my hand. I grabbed the meat from the fridge, and crumbled it up in a pan. I turned the stove off, and put the pasta in a big bowl. I put the meat on top. I put the tomato sauce in a bowl and microwaved it. I waited, then pulled it out and put it on the pasta.

"DINNER'S READY!" I shouted. I saw Jacob get up from the couch and grab a plate of pasta. "Hey Jacob." I say, no response. Jacob walked away and went back to the couch.

Sarah did the same. So, I grabbed a plate and sat at the table. I heard Jacob and Sarah laugh. They seemed so happy, yet their father is dead.
How could they accept the fact so early?

It's been a month since he died and they're  able to laugh? I quickly finished my dinner, and put my plate in the sink. I picked up the sponge and ran the water. "Mom! We're doing dishes tonight." said Jacob. Oh thank god! They said something to me! What do I say back? I should just keep it simple.

"Ok.Thanks." I said. Did I say the right thing? Did I keep it too short? Was it underwhelming?
"Love you mom!"said Jacob. He...he said I love you. He hasn't said that in so long.

"I love you to." I said back. I put the sponge back, and turned the water off. I walked to the bathroom and washed my hands. I looked in the mirror.

I hadn't looked in a mirror since Samuel was alive. I still had my black bob with gray streaks running through it. My eyes had small dark circles under them with crows feet at the corner. I noticed my dull brown eyes, and my angular nose.

I turned the water off and walked out of the bathroom.I turned the corner and went to my room. I turned my computer on and watched videos of the X factor. Because I used to watch it all the time with Samuel.

I plugged my computer in near my bed, and sat up to watch them. A few hours of YouTube passed and it was time to sleep. I got up to brush my teeth, then went back to bed. I closed my eyes and dreamed of singing for the whole town.
