She starts toward the exit. She's two steps away when someone grabs her wrist and slams her against the wall.

Grant.

"You remember me, I trust," he says with a smirk.

"Well, I try not to," Tracy deadpans.

"You haven't met my friends yet, have you?"

"No, but I haven't had the honor," she replies sarcastically.

Grant gestures. "Peter. Jeremy."

"They're just here to make you look stronger, right?" Tracy says.

Grant's face darkens. He rips Tracy's glasses off and drops them to the ground.

"Grant, are you gonna hit a girl?" Jeremy asks nervously. "My dad said if I ever hit a girl—"

"Jeremy, shut up," Grant snaps. "Just watch for teachers."

Grant pulls his fist back—

—and someone catches it.

Tracy opens her eyes.

Dr. Oliver stands between them.

"Dr. Oliver, I—I was just saying hi to the new girl," Grant stammers.

"Nice try, Grant. Do I need to call your parents again?"

"NO! Please don't call my folks!"

"If you leave her alone, I won't."

"Okay! Okay, I promise!"

Grant and his friends scatter.

Dr. Oliver turns to Tracy. "You okay?"

"Yeah. Thanks, Dr. Oliver."

The rock in her pocket begins glowing again. She reaches in and pulls it out just as Kira and the guys run up.

"Dr. O—we need to talk," Ethan says.

"Let me guess," Dr. Oliver says. "Tracy found the dino gem."

"A dino what now?" Tracy blurts.

Her phone buzzes. She checks it.

"Oh great..."

"Good news or bad news?" Ethan asks.

"Bad news. My parents are both working late. I have nowhere to stay."

"You can stay at my place," Dr. Oliver offers.

"No, Dr. Oliver, I don't want to bother you—"

"It's no bother."

He pulls Kira aside.

"You're going to tell her... right?" Kira whispers.

"Yes. Everything."

They return just as Mike runs up, out of breath.

"Tracy—I, uh... made a copy of the Pre-Calc notes for you."

"Thanks, Mike. That'll really help."

When she opens her bag, everything spills everywhere.

"Ugh, I'm such a klutz."

"Hey," Mike says gently, "don't talk about yourself like that."

They pick everything up. Mike accidentally knocks her glasses off—again—then hands them back, their fingers brushing.

"You know," he says quietly, "your eyes shine like stars when you laugh."

Tracy blushes so hard she nearly falls. She steadies herself on the jeep door.
