A farmer, sweat pouring down his brow,

Gazes wistfully at the white hot sky,

Each sigh expresses the sorrow,

When will the rain come by?

Waiting long in the house,

A child with the expectant eyes,

But then her parents come late,

A forgotten promise; a smile diminished.

An expecting mother,

Waiting, long and tired to see her baby,

A gasp from the nurse, a shake of the head from the doctor,

And she knows she's lost her joy infinitely.

Mother, teacher, child all waiting,

Waiting for promises to be fulfilled,

Like broken glass pieces they come back,

Only to hurt the ones who keep expecting.
