Faris was more reserved, "Don't mind him," she jerked a thumb in her husband's direction. He shook his head and shot her a look, as to say please do pay me attention. "Biologist, right?" She had paid some attention to the meeting and announcement of one more coming along.
"Yeah, that would be right. Karine put my name forward."
Tennessee laughed at that, "Betcha real glad and thankful of that one, huh?"
Onora just nodded slowly with a grin. "Perhaps not what I was expecting, to be honest." By all means, refer her for a job, but did it have to still be one involving space?
Tennessee looked at her sceptically, "Not the travelling type?"
"That obvious?"
"Only if you climbed onto the table and shouted it out." He crossed his arms over his chest and nodded down at her. "You'll be fine. I am a very capable and able pilot."
"You sound like you're more trying to convince yourself of that, T, than reassure..."
"Onora."
"Onora, that you're a brilliant pilot." Faris couldn't help but scoff and just find herself despairing, all over again over her husband.
"Oh, well, hang on a minute-!"
"It was nice meeting you, Onora," Faris smiled again and sent a look to Walter. He simply nodded and placed a hand on Onora's shoulder and instructed her quietly away. Faris knew her husband well enough to spot when he was about to go off on a tirade about his skills behind the wheel, or controls of most vehicles.
"Are they always like that?" Onora asked Walter quietly when they were a small distance away.
He nodded, "Do you find them curious?" She nodded slowly, they were certainly curious. Walter smiled, "Their bickering tends to annoy the others. Some find it humorous, others, no."
"They get told to shut up a lot then?"
"Perhaps," Walter sounded thoughtful, "But mainly by one person in particular." Walter's gaze flitted about the room and landed on Karine, and Chris beside her. Onora looked over and then looked back to Walter, he just raised an eyebrow. "You have met Chris Oram before, yes?" Onora nodded, ages ago, yes. "Then we shall bypass-"
"Onora!" Karine called out, Walter, who is in the middle of turning, stopped and looked back at her dully.
"I was introducing her to the rest of the crew." Walter wasted no time in saying, hoping that they wouldn't be waylaid too much or too long.
Karine smiled and shook her head, "Sorry, Walter, are you okay to continue or do you want me to take over?"
"I am more than capable to continue. We are almost done." Walter stated frankly with a slight nod.
Karine just looked at him and then slowly back at Onora. She raised her eyebrows and smiled awkwardly, Onora just smiled back. Karine clearly believed that the introductions were going awfully from the way they both walked uncertainly side by side, going to each person or couple and speaking for a few moments before moving on. There'd probably be more interaction going if Karine was with Onora, but she didn't actually know that everything was going fine. As far as making her feel welcome, and playing the part of host, Walter was doing a brilliant job. Sure, he was sort of designed to do these things in part, but overlook that, and he was perhaps the lone one so far to have made her feel truly welcomed, and spent the most time talking to her.
"I don't believe we've met," Onora joked while Oram stood from his chair, a light smile was on his face. "Who are you?"
"Very funny," was his reply before shaking her hand and then bringing her in for a loose hug. "How have you been?" He asked while she stepped back and stood beside Walter again, he watched the familiar pleasant exchange with a thoughtful expression and narrowed eyes. They had clearly crossed paths more than once to have such familiarity. He would ask Onora, but it wasn't exactly his place, and he didn't feel curiosity to even push him to ask her.
