{ A/N: This is very much inspired by SarahsSanctuary's old story Voldemort's Son. If you've read that, expect similar aspects; if you haven't read it then don't give me all the credit as Sarah is due lots herself. Thanks for being such an amazing writer<3
That aside, there's a lot of HP terminology in this book, I'll try to explain things as I go, but I won't always so Google is your friend ;) }
Young With Scabby Knees
I'm late for the goddamn train. It's my last year at Hogwarts and I'm going to miss my fucking ride. Maybe if the stupid cab hadn't been late... I shake the thoughts from my head, sprinting all the the way to the pillar, not being at all discrete and just ploughing through. Once on the platform, the loud blow of the train whistle sounds and I panic, yanking my trunk from the cart and frantically jumping aboard.
"You just made it, Kellin," Hayley's disappointed voice greets me, a Head Girl badge on her robes. I have to stop myself from laughing, only she would already be in robes. She's practically the embodiment of Hufflepuff.
"So you got Head Girl, huh?" I humour her, knowing she'll talk about it anyway.
"I did, not that it was much of a surprise."
"As if you weren't entitled enough before," I mumble, rolling my eyes.
"What did you just say to me?" Hayley replies, offended.
"You heard me." I smile sweetly at her and push my way past, searching the compartments. I start at the back, knowing my friends always want to be served by the snack trolley first. The third compartment up, I see my favourite five faces. Caleb, Matty and Lyndsey (my fellow Slytherins) along with Jack and Alex (both Hufflepuffs—and dating, I might add). I open the door and smile immediately, this is home.
"Kellin!" they all cheer, hugging me.
"I thought for sure you weren't gonna make it, man," Caleb says, laughing.
"Yeah, what took you so long?" Lyndsey asks, looking at me in concern.
I shrug, "Cab was late."
"Your parents drive a cab?" Alex asks. He and Jack had only been dating since last march, so he didn't exactly know everyone very well.
"Uh, no, my parents can't take me," I tell him, still finding it awkward to say that my parents reject any talk of wizardry. It's weird, being gay they're fine with, but once I get the letter from Hogwarts they don't support me at all. I guess it's not their fault (being muggles and all) they just don't understand.
"Your parents are dicks," Matty says, pulling me from my thoughts. I laugh, and shake my head. Matty always was quite openly hateful.
"So, has anyone heard the rumours?" Jack asks, changing the subject. Everyone nods along except for me.
"Isn't it crazy?" Matty exclaims. I'm lost.
"What? Isn't what crazy?" I ask, hating the fact that my parents don't let me get The Daily Prophet at home.
"There's a new student," Alex tells me excitedly.
"There are always new students," I point out, obviously.
"No," he laughs, "A new seventh year. First time at school."
