Walt Whitman Inspired

I see the world, below me as if a shadow.

The rock beneath my feet only opens up possibilities.

I am a part of the mountain. As I am a part of the world, the world is a part of me.

I was so far from the sun and now I need only to reach out to touch it.

The solar flames surround me, threatening the tiny flowers floating in my stomach, a piece of home in wide open space.

The hardest battles in life are the ones against our brothers.

I see the gleam of power in his eyes as his gun shoots through me, crushing boundaries as my country falls into itself.

Oh, land of the free, they say. We are all free men as the ones who walk on this Earth choose to live by its rules.

Keep the birds chirping, the snake hissing, and the world spinning.

I know I should keep fighting, but the mountain is too high...would you climb it?

I know I should keep fighting, but the sun is burning my skin...would you reach out to touch it?

I know I should keep fighting, but the wound hurts...would you shoot him back?

I am a part of the world and well, the birds are still chirping, the snakes are still hissing and the world is still spinning.
