I'm not doing any catch-ups for anyone who decides to start the series on the second book.
I walked into the main room to find Nightmaremoon. I felt proud of all the books that I had read, my sword was still in my hand in case it went missing and we got attacked but when I found her she was lying on the floor with her eyes shut... not moving "Nightmaremoon" I called rushing to her side and shaking her "so your element doesnt sleep either" she said calmly her eyes still closed. "What happened?, are you ok" I cried out "Oh I was just testing you to see if your element sleeps, as far as I know only the dark element and the illusion elements don't sleep" Nightmaremoon noted sitting up "What's sleeping?" I asked "It's where you are still for the whole night, it's kinda like charging" she explained "Don't you think that that was quite a mean way of testing me, you could have just asked" I said "Your right, sorry" she apologised "How do people get their elements?" I asked "It used to be where you touch something called elfro but that caused side-affects like white hair, loss of memory, sharp teeth and very very pale skin, it would usually take a few weeks for their element to work" she said sitting up. I thought of people gaining their element and then forgetting about their friends and who they are becoming soulless monsters with nothing to show from their actions but just an element "but now we have made an important sphere full of elfro with a special type of glass that stops the side affects but still lets us gain an element. It's located at the centre of this island where everyone can access it. Kids are sent out there when they're old enough to control an element but if they don't get darkness they are abandoned and like all other elements can never return to the darkness realm. But if your parents have the darkness element your chances are higher" "What are parents?" I asked "They are your creators" she explained "How do they create yo-" I was cut off by Nightmaremoon "Please don't" she begged "Um, ok" I said wondering why Nightmaremoon didn't want to share the secrets of life with me
"Where are your parents?" I asked "they're dead" she said blankly "they once managed to rule over the kingdom but like all rulers it was a dangerous position since almost everyone wanted it, basically they got slaughtered after two weeks on the throne which may not seem like a long time but two weeks was the second longest rule" "Aren't you sad?" I asked in suprise thinking of how I would feel if my creators died "No, not really. I've seen so many deaths and caused so many deaths that I somehow got used to it. Every bloodcurdling shriek all the blood on them... my sword... and me. befriending someone the first day before killing them the next. Something so chaotic so awful becoming something so normal" she said darkly "but now I am free of all that and ready for a new beginning. One with less bloodshed and more peace" "Is that some kind of poem?" I asked "Nah" she replied "Do you have any other siblings?" I asked "I had a big brother called James but when he touched the ball of elfro he became a water elemental and had to be abandoned. And that's when my parents got upset and rounded up as many people as they could who had had a son or daughter lost because of their leaders stupid rules and then fought against the leader and eventually they won and people's sons and daughters were allowed to stay even though they weren't dark elementals. but my brother never returned for some reason. then my parents rule ended and the rules went back to the way they were before. I was only 6 years old at the time. Now I'm 15" nightmaremoon said "Why didn't you just stay with another element?" I asked "The other elementals outlawed us from visiting them because of how we treat kids and because they can't visit us" she said sadly "they make stereotypes of who we are, well practically everyone fits them" "Is it possible to swap elements?" I asked "I'm pretty sure that's possible" she said "just focus on your element and make it go into the person you want to swap with" she explained "Could we try it?" I asked. "Sure" she agreed. I focused on my element and forced it into nightmaremoon "wow, I could kinda sense it" she said in surprise "let's try them out on each other" "Ok then" I agreed. We both shot our elements at each other. For some reason I couldn't do anything and nightmaremoons element wasn't purple but a dark shade of red and looked like lightning. It shot me in the chest and everything went black...
They were after me! One had three months two had horns. They were giant faces... the only things to be seen in the darkness. Then I was falling down into the darkness below me were two eyes staring at me getting closer and closer

Then I woke up I was on my back staring up at the roof. Nightmaremoon was gazing down at me "are you ok?" She asked in concern "I think I just had some kind of scary hallucination" "They are called nightmares" she explained "people who sleep have them" "Why does your name have the word nightmare in it?" I asked "dark elementals give their children weird names" she explained. We sat in silence before I broke it by saying "I think I know what happened" "What?" She asked me "I think that you didn't transfer your element so you got two and they mixed to create a hybrid" "What would illusion and darkness make" nightmaremoon wondered "Scaryness and seeing... seeing scariness!... nightmare?" I guessed "Let's call it the nightmare element for now" she decided "Good idea" I agreed
