The Monster Games

Start from the beginning

“I don’t know why your worrying about it that much. It’ll be fine,” Sophia smiled at me.  “You know how small the chances are?”

“Yeah, I’m just worried for Amya.”

“I know, it’s hard. I am so happy I don’t have any younger siblings. I don’t think I could handle it.”

“It is hard and I can barely handle it.” I said just as the lunch bell rang.

We walked to our next class, Art. This was my favorite class and had my favorite teacher Mrs. Elm.  I sat down in my normal seat and Sophia sat next to me.

“Today we’re going to start a project that involves groups. Every group should have two people.”

I looked at Sophia with a questioning look. She nodded her head and smiled.

“So you will be making a college of twenty drawings that describe your life.  And you can use words or drawings,” Mrs. Elm explained.  “You have a week to work on it.”

“This should be fun.” I said.

“Okay you have forty five minutes to start it.”

We went and sat down on one of the tables in the back of the room.

“So what’s the plan?” I asked Sophia.

“Okay, so we each do ten drawings.  One today?”

“Yep sounds good.” I smiled at her.

We went to work right away. I pulled out my pencils from my backpack.  Forty five minutes later I had a sketch of my family, me, Blake, Amya, and my mom.  That summed up my life pretty well.  I was definitely a family person.  I could finish the drawing later. I looked over at Sophia who was looking down at the word “friendship” it was beautiful with hearts and flowers all over.

                “That’s amazing.” I told her.

                “Thanks!” She smiled.

The bell rang and we all got up.  Next was PE.  We walked to the gym.  After we had ran and played dodge ball we went to our next class, health.  When that was finally over we had our last class.  I had French and Sophia had Spanish.

“See you later!” I waved to Sophia.

I walked into my class and sat down.

“Okay, for today work on your worksheet located on page 25.” Mr. Maxwell said.

                I opened up my book.

“Great translating.” I thought. “I hate translating.

“Number one. I picked up the dog.  J'ai ramassé le chien.  Number two. The dog bit me. Le chien m'a mordu.  Number three. The dog ate my food. Le chien a mangé ma nourriture.” There were twenty questions.  Finally the bell rang

“Okay finish this at home if you didn’t finish it in class!” Mr. Maxwell said.

I left and went to find Sophia. It was now 3:15.  I finally found her.

“I have to leave! See you tomorrow,” I told her.

“Yep! And just remember don’t worry about tomorrow you will be fine.”

“Thanks.” I said.

“No problem.” Sophia smiled and walked away.

I walked to my brother’s car where he and Amya were waiting.

“I thought I told you to be back by 3:30?” he said.

“What time is it now?”

“3:31”

I smirked at him and got in the car. “Let’s go.”

I walked inside the house and my mom was sitting at the table.

“Hey kids.  How was your day?” my mom asked.

I shrugged.  “It was normal I guess.  I have a ton of homework.”

“Aw, okay.  Go do that we’re having dinner at six.”

“Okay.” I went upstairs to my room, sat down at my desk and pulled out my math book.  After I had finished math I pulled out my note book and looked at my sketch that I had drawn earlier.  I started cleaning up my lines when my mom called me.

“Adeline! Come down stairs!”

“And I was so close to finishing,” I grumbled.  “Coming!” I got my iPod and ran down stairs.

“Yes?” I asked.

“Can you make a salad?” my mom asked.

“Uggg. Why can’t Amya?  I have homework.”

“She’s also doing homework.”

“Fine.”

I popped in my headphones then went to the fridge and took out the lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers and went to the counter and started chopping everything up.  Then I threw everything in a glass bowl and placed it in the center of the tiny wood table.

“Okay I’m done.”

“Great can you go get Amya and Blake?”

“Yeah, sure.” I went upstairs to get my brother and sister. “Blake, Amya dinner!”

“Coming,” they both said.

I went back down stairs and got out four cups and filled them with tap water then set them around the table.  Next I pulled out the plates and placed them down while my mom got the lasagna out of the oven.  Then I sat down next to Blake and Amya.  My mom put a slice of lasagna on each of our plates then she sat down.  We all took some salad and began eating.  It was a quiet dinner with all of us worrying about tomorrow.  When we all finished I got up and put all of the dishes in the sink and Blake washed them.  I looked at the clock. 6:30.

“I have to go and finish my homework.” I told my mom.

When I had finally finished my drawing it was seven.  I went and took my shower and got ready for bed then went to bed.  I know it was only a courter to eight but I was tired and I would have to get up early for the reaping tomorrow.
