"What are you talking about?" Ursanne inquired.
Bella rolled her eyes. "You're gonna have to get used to it sooner or later, Ursanne. He's with Collie."
I looked away, suddenly feeling the vibration of my phone on the coffee table. I leant forward to reach it. I felt Ursanne's eyes on me as I opened a new text message. She sighed.
"Fine, but if she causes any crap, then I'm done giving her chances."
I looked up at my sister from my spot at the singular chair in the living room. Nodding, I told her okay, and then I reverted my attention to the text message I received from the girl herself.
What time should I come by?
...
When a knock was at the door, I was the first to get it, knowing that Ursanne wasn't going to get up considering her mood at the moment.
Opening the door, Collie's light blonde hair came to view. She wore a bumble bee outfit, which I liked much better than the fairy one she wore at Spirit.
"Hey!" she greeted.
I smiled at her. "Hi."
She eyed my costume. "Interesting choice."
I suddenly felt embarrassed. I was Spider-Man, and was matching with Grady. Nothing could be more humiliating.
Out of nowhere, I was being pushed to the side.
"Mom! We're leaving!" Ursanne shouted, stepping onto the porch next to Collie. She glared at her, and I gave her a disapproving look.
"Be safe! Stick together!"
Ursanne smiled at us. "Let's go."
Bella, Ursanne, and Grady walked in front of Collie and I. Collie took my hand and we began walking through the neighborhood.
"Are you sure they're okay with us?"
I nodded. "Ursanne was a little hesitant, but she'll get over it. We're just trick-or-treating."
"I feel like she's jealous. She acts like she owns you."
I lowered my gaze, my hand starting to feel sweaty. I mentally told it to stay cool, no pun intended, because what would be even more embarrasing is to have Collie wipe her hands on her costume to rid of my nervousy.
"She's just... protective."
"That's weird," she mumbled.
For the first few doors, we got small candies like mini Kit Kats and M&M's and CRUNCH's. Collie and I stayed behind while Ursanne and the others stayed ahead. I felt like they were purposefully leaving us out, and I wasn't okay with it. So, I tugged Collie ahead with me until we were walking right next to them.
"Any of you guys a little chilly?" I asked.
"No." Ursanne stated bluntly.
"Um, sort of, I guess." Bella muttered, glancing at me.
Ursanne sent a glare her way. I could tell Bella felt uncomfortable. She knew Ursanne was being a bit childish, but she didn't want to completely diss her.
"I feel fine!" Grady exclaimed. "You're not cold, are you?"
I shook my head. "No." I then turned to Collie. "Are you?"
She shook her head, smiling. "Nope."
I heard Ursanne grunt, Turning, I watched her roll her eyes.
Collie stopped. "Do you have a problem?"
