What wrong did I ever do to you?
I never asked for any of this.
Is my soul to small to matter.
What more do you want from us.
You have taken every bit of soul.
Where did we loose it all, tell me?
You have spread your wickedness.
And all I hear when I pass is your name.
Even the innocent you have claimed.
Just to fuel your own treacherous soul.
Is it not us the young soul your destroying.
Is it not our blood we shed because of you.
But why can't they listen to us the youth.
I used to play with Ochieng,Kiptoo and Kamau.
Now look at this soul in tears trembling.
What crime did I commit to be judged.
I was never consulted to choose my tribe.
Why should I be killed for it, why should I?
Tell this young soul his crime.
I liked Atieno she made me happy.
Now I can't even go near her because of you.
I was happy being a toddler I smiled.
Because a toddler's soul never knew you.
How I wish I remained a toddler.
Only then would I be allowed to see Jeptoo.
I thought through schooling we will be free.
Free of you, your chains and prison.
The free soul you have trapped and caged.
Too bad your name is still heard, Tribalism
Is what they call you
