I was jolted awake by the shattering sounds of glass and metal hitting the floor and knew exactly what to expect next. As I turned over to face my alarm clock, it read 11:02 am. It is way too early for this to be happening, I thought to myself.
My stepdad, Michael, stumbled into my room, drunk as all hell. He started yelling about only god knows what, his words were too slurred to know.
I prepared my self for what was to come. Punch after punch he threw to my ribcage, uncoordinated and brutal. When he finally stopped and left the room, I noticed someone in my doorway, and I did a silent prayer it wasn't him.
Lucky for me, it was Lucifer, my older brother. He could be brutal just as well as Michael, and I knew what I had coming next. He strolled in, sitting down and leaning his head over to my ear. In his ominous, raspy whisper he droned on, "Oh naïve, weak Cassie. You should know better than to sleep in. You know it makes daddy and I mad." As he pushed himself up and off my bed, he balled his right fist up and punched me square in the jaw. Hard.
The last thing I could remember was hearing his vengeful laugh. Then, the room went black.
