~Vic~
When we were 5, my brother and I were playing outside like any normal brothers would. We are twins, though we don't look much alike. However, us being twins and as close as we were, other kids always treated us differently.
We didn't really mind though, it brought us closer together actually. Mike was my best friend. But everything changed that day in the yard.
Mike threw the ball a little harder than he intended to, which resulted in it ending up across the road. We were 5, we knew we weren't allowed to cross the street...
--Flashback--
"Go get the ball!" Mike smirked, pointing across the road.
"But we can't. Mama is inside. She will be mad if she finds out we went across the road without her watching." I whined. I hate getting in trouble. Mikey scoffed at me and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Don't be a baby Viccy. She won't find out." He persuaded, rolling his eyes.
I huffed before glancing across the street at the ball and back at my brother.
"Fine. But if we get in trouble, it's your fault!" I warned, pointing my finger at his face. He giggled and nudged me toward the sidewalk.
"Yeah yeah. Just go already!" He laughed.
I cautiously looked both ways before darting across the road, picking up the ball.
"Got it!" I called back with a triumphant smile. Mikey smiled back and motioned me to come back across.
"Hurry, before mama comes out to check on us!" He called cupping his hands over his mouth like a megaphone. I nodded and ran.
In my rush, I hadn't noticed the car racing down the road.
I didn't see it. To be fair, I didn't look.
"VIC!" Mike screeched, though, to me, it sounded muffled. It was like everything was going in slow motion.
I turned my head to see the car coming straight at me. My eyes widened but I was caught like a deer in the headlights.
--End Flashback--
That was the last time I saw my best friend. In person, at least. I've been seeing him in the pictures he takes or little vlogs he will make to keep me updated on his life. I do the same for him.
I'm not entirely sure what happened after the accident. All I know is what mama explained.
She said the car hit me and I almost died. She said she did what she had to do to keep me alive. I think the rest would be best told by Mike, considering he was there.
~Mike~
This is when shit gets insane.
Mama sought help from a woman in our neighborhood. You could say she was a witch of sorts, she possessed magic and everyone knew and kept their distance.
--Flashback--
Mama carried Vic's torn up body toward the scariest house on the block. It just seemed... darker around her home. The trees out front had no leaves and looked dead. The beat-up log house was covered in thick vines and ravens were constantly around.
"Mama, I'm scared." I cried, clinging to my crying mother's side.
"Shhh Mike." She shushed me softly, trying to contain her sobs. Vic wasn't moving and he was barely breathing. He is going to die.
My brother. My best friend. Gone.
I cried harder.
Mama laid Vic down on the porch and I collapsed by his side. I gripped his torn, bloody shirt tightly and buried my crying face into his neck. He felt cold and wet on my face. That's probably because of the blood...
