This is an old work in progress--old, old, OLD. It's been six years since I began to write it--now I just refer to it as a "practice novel." I've posted it and reposted it on wattpad many times on many accounts. I'm reposting it again. It's a bit amateurish (it has been six years of writing since then) so maybe not all fans of Curious will like it.  But it is an entertaining read. I hope you enjoy it!

Chapter 1: A Long Lost Twin

"Asia!" Mom called to me, waving.

I ran into her arms and whispered the well-practiced lie. "I missed you."

Does that make me a bad person? Lying to my mom about whether or not I missed her while I was away at sleep-away camp? Because it's not that I don't love my mom, it's just that I have so much fun at archery camp that I forget I have another life that doesn't completely revolve around archery.

So when I get home, it's sort of a rude awakening.

This year, I was up for king of rude awakenings.

Mom pulled me away and studied me before saying. "I have bad news."

"What?" I asked, thinking that the bad news better not be about the fact that she had received my report card for the year, glanced at my final grades, and decided I wasn't going to attend archery camp the next year.

She took a deep breath and said the sentence that changed my life. The sentence turned my world upside down. A sentence that begins with:

      "Your father has died,"

      Continues with:

      "You have a twin brother,"

      And ends with:

"And we are going to move in with him in my hometown."

And you say your lives suck.

"I have an idea! Why don't I just stay here?" I clapped my hands together. "There, problem solved!"

      Mom sighed. "You can't."

"Why not?" I demanded. "I'm already independent and like super-duper responsible. You always leave me alone when you go on business trips and I don't blow up the apartment or anything!"

"Yes, you are very independent. But I'm worried about your fiery temper."

"I don't have a fiery temper! Why does everyone keep saying that?" I said, irritated. Every time Mom and I fight, she just has to bring that up to back her argument up better.

Mom gave me a look. "Do we need to replay what happened last summer?"

I winced. "Mom! Things like that don't happen twice. It was a one-time thing."

"But what about the time before that or maybe just three weeks ago..."

      "That's blackmail." I pointed out.

"No, it's not blackmail. It's fact. I am your mother and I can do what I want until you're eighteen."

"That's it." I said, holding my hands up. "I'm emancipating."

"Be reasonable, Asia." Mom advised-as if ordering me around would suddenly make me feel better about all of this.

"Reasonable?" I roared. "How can I be reasonable when you're making me move halfway across the country for no reason?"
