Jeremy's POV
You know the feeling when you look at someone and your stomach churns and butterflies erupt. I did not think that I would find my soul mate on a sunny sunday morning in a Church. The moment I saw those beautiful hazel orbs with flecks of green, all the others in the room vanished. It felt like time had stopped. Oh! That beautifully tousled brown hair and freckles spread over the bridge of the nose.
It happened so fast, one moment I was staring at those beautiful hazel orbs and the next moment we were in a passionate make out session. It was so wrong. But, it felt so right.
I don't know when the feelings of love had become so strong. And the fact that it was completely against my morals and I still had fallen so hard. At first I hated myself for it. It was wrong and I wasn't supposed to fall in love with him.
I was supposed to love a girl, marry her and have a family. That's what I have been taught. That's what I should do. But here, I am in secret relationship with Xavier. Half German and Half Indian guy who settled in Mumbai a year ago.
This is the first time I was hiding something from my best friends. I don't really know what their reaction would be but it had been 5 months now and they were definitely suspecting something. Even Jenny knew something was wrong. Or rather, I was hiding something. I had already gone through interrogation regarding who the girl is, and even though I denied all her accusations against me, she was still firm that there was a girl.
I mean I was not really wrong. There wasn't any girl. And that was literally the problem.
But I knew one thing, what I had with him I could never ever have with anyone else. I don't know if it's gonna be forever but what I know is I will not forget this.
Exactly at half past 5 I slipped out of my house and walked towards the Church where we first met. I walked through the gates of the cemetery and turned west towards the bench. He was already there and was busy scrolling, probably through Instagram. He looked me and cracked his cute smile showing his pearly whites. We shared a hug as we greeted each other.
"Hey man, Sup?" I asked him as we separated from the hug.
"Not much" He said, his eyes not leaving the tree in front of us. Within seconds, he snapped his neck towards me and grinned wide saying,"I am craving roasted marshmallow s'mores frappuccino!"
I chuckled,"Sure let's go"
We started walking towards my car. Xavier pulled my hand and laced his fingers through mine, making me blush. I could feel him grinning beside me. Five months and he still had an effect on me. God! I sound like a teenage girl!
We got in the car and drove to our nearest Starbucks outlet, while listening to our favourite artists.
We walked in and picked the table at the far end near the window.
We both gave our respective orders and sat down. We discussed about some random things, while we waited for our beverages. Our conversation was interrupted by the barista who announced our names. As Xavier got up to collect our drinks, the door opened bringing in new customers. I turned my head to see who had entered and then immediately snapped my neck so hard that it hurt.
Jenny, Trisha, Tanya, Shreya, Siddhanth, Soham and Arnav had entered the café. Holy cow! I hope they don't see me here. If they do I am driving back to the cemetery and digging my own grave. I am so not ready for this conversation. Someone up there really hates me.
"Here is your Chai Tea Cream Frap" He happily chirped, placing the cold drink in front of me.
"What happened Mr. Anxious?" He asked sitting down across me.
I shook my head and took a sip of my Frappuccino giving him a small smile.
"I am all ears go on" He said casually taking a long sip from his drink.
"MyfriendsarehereandIdon'twantthemtofindme" I said all in one breath.
"Babe, I am fluent in 4 language but I don't speak gibberish or whatever language that is"
"My friends are here and I don't want them to find me" I said in hushed tone.
He looked at me and slowly his eyes widened,"Are you embarrassed of being seen out with me?" He asked in a shrill voice.
"Of course not. Its just that,I am not ready to tell them yet"
"I know, but I think it's time you tell them"
"Where are they?" He asked as his eyes scanned the café.
"3 tables in front of you"
Right then my phone rang indicating a call from Soham. Oh No! How am I supposed to pick it up.
"Umm, Jer, Why did your friends suddenly turn towards us?" Xavier asked.
"Is that you Jeremy?" I heard Tanya's voice call. I did not dare respond or turn back.
"Oh you bet, that's Jeremy for sure!" Jenny exclaimed.
I heard footsteps coming my way and my heart thundered.
Xavier placed his hand on my knee, below the table and gave me a reassuring smile.
"Hey Jer, What are you doing here?" Soham asked standing beside me. I got up to greet him and others. They won't let me off the hook now.
"I came for some drinks... umm What are you guys doing here? It's not your usual hangout spot" I stated as I scanned the group of seven people, with a smile.
"Trisha and Shreya were craving hot chocolate and this was the closest café..." Jenny trailed off as her eyes stopped on Xavier. I think this is the time where I introduce him.
"Umm, Guys this is Xavier, my boyfriend" I said quietly. For a few moments, an awkward silence engulfed us. I squeezed my boyfriend's hand, in an attempt to calm him as well as me. I did not look up to their faces to see their reactions.
"That's, umm, great Jeremy. Nice to meet you, Xavier" Siddhanth said extending his arm out for Xavier. Slowly, I raised my head to see them wearing happy and accepting expressions.
"Just don't hurt my brother, because I guarantee you that I will stab you with the sharpest knife" Jenny said in a serious tone, but there was still a smile playing on her lips.
"And I guarantee you that I will never ever hurt him"Xavier said with a warm smile.
"So this is what was going on for the past few months? And you never told us?" Trisha asked.
"How long have you been hiding something so important, Jer? You could've told me, I am your best friend!" Soham questioned, his tone laced with slight disappointment.
"I was scared. I was scared of how you guys will respond. Scared If you would end your friendship. Scared of losing you guys" my voice quivered.
Within seconds, Arnav pulled me in a hug. As we pulled out of the hug, "We would have never ever leave you! And why would we leave? Because you like a guy? There is nothing wrong with that. Love is Love. Be it between a guy and a girl or a guy and a guy or a girl and a girl." Shreya said as Xavier put his arm around me.
"So what lesson did we learn today, Don't hide things from your best friends or...." Soham said in a sing song voice, as he punched me in my guts. F*ck that shit hurts.
"Hey, don't hurt my boyfriend!" Xavier scowled as he put an arm around my waist.
"Sorry buddy, but he deserved that for thinking we will ever leave him" Trisha spoke as others nodded.
"So, wanna hangout at the park after we are done with our drinks?" Tanya asked as everyone nodded.
It felt great to get this burden off my shoulders. Though it was nerve wracking, it all worked out just fine. I was glad that I would no longer have to lie to my friends and Xavier had wanted to meet them for so long, he was glad that he finally got to meet them.
