I'm Becca. I'm 5 years old. I started kindergarten today! I'm excited because it's real fun! Toys! Friends! Cool stuff! I met a boy named Nate. He's still 4. He's very shy, but I'm not! I accidentally bumped over his block tower today. It was an accident and I told him that it was, but he still cried like a tiny baby. Big kids don't cry. And when you're in school, you're a big kid! I hugged him better and helped him fix the blocks, but he shooed me away. I guess he wanted alone time to fix the blocks. I saw him fixing them and they were better than before! I couldn't tell if he got more blocks, but I don't think so.
Then our teacher, Miss Harriet, put on some music! We all danced and sang! She put on the alphabet song! I was the only one who knew the whole alphabet! I sang A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L M N O P. You get it. We also sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, which everyone knew. And Old McDonald, which only a few people knew, including me! We learned some numbers after that, then some letters. It was easy since I already know them all.
Then we ate lunch. Mommy and daddy packed me a good lunch. I had a hot dog, some cheese crackers, a fruit roll-up and a juice box! It was very yummy. Except for the juice box. It was warm from being in my lunch bag all morning.
After lunch we got to draw. Nate finished very fast and looked at other people's drawings. He saw mine and he really liked it. I was drawing a picture of my family. Nate drew a picture of something, but he didn't let anyone see. I wonder why.

After that we got free time again. Nate was in a corner by himself with some pillows and a book. He was having trouble reading it. It was called The Berenstain Bears Go To the Doctor. I walked over and asked if he wanted help. He nodded shyly and gave me the book. I started to read. "'Tomorrow,' said Mama Bear as she helped the cubs get ready for bed, 'you'll be going to the doctor for a checkup.' 'Doctor?' said Brother Bear. 'We're not sick!' 'And what's a checkup?' asked Sister Bear, a little worried." Nate told me that I was a great reader. I said thanks and finished reading the book.

Miss Harriet called everyone to the carpet. She said she was going to read us some stories! She reached into a box and pulled out two picture books. I suddenly had to use the bathroom, so I looked around the class. I saw some kid walk out of a blue door. I got up to go see if it was the bathroom. It was! I started to walk in when Miss Harriet called my name. "Becca!" I ran back to the carpet and looked at her. She told me and everyone else to raise their hand and ask before leaving the carpet for any reason. She also reminded everyone to ask before going to the bathroom at any time. We all nodded and said okay. Then Miss Harriet told me I could go. So I did.
I missed the whole first story because it was short. When I got back out, Miss Harriet put away the first book, which I never got to see the name of. She picked up the second book, my favourite book! Green Eggs and Ham! I asked Miss Harriet if I could read it. She gave me a look that proved she was thinking "I dunno, you're only in kindergarten, but I don't wanna hurt your feelings..." but luckily, Nate raised his hand and said that I was a great reader. Miss Harriet gave me the book and I started to read. "That Sam-I-am! That Sam-I-am! I do not like that Sam-I-am! Do you like green eggs and ham? I do not like them, Sam-I-am. I do not like green eggs and ham." I read the whole book and everyone was stunned by how talented and smart I am! I could even read, without hesitating or messing up, "I could not, would not, on a boat. I will not, will not, with a goat. I will not eat them in the rain. I will not eat them on a train. Not in the dark! Not in a tree! Not in a car! You let me be! I do not like them in a box. I do not like them with a fox. I will not eat them in a house. I do not like them with a mouse. I do not like them here or there. I do not like them ANYWHERE!" Everyone was amazed! Especially Miss Harriet!

The bell rang and we had to pack up our stuff. Once we were done that, we all headed outside to meet our parents. My mommy was waiting for me. She hugged me and asked me how my day was. I didn't even get a chance to answer because Miss Harriet came over and told mommy what an amazing reader I am and that I was the only one who knew the whole alphabet! My mom ruffled my hair when she heard that. I turned my head to the side and saw Nate, who was going to a car with a man who I assume was his dad. He was looking at me and his face was kinda pink. As soon as he saw me turn my head to him, he looked away. I shrugged it off. I guess he's just really shy.
