"I didn't ask for this, Edwards." I hear a man say to my dad. "I didn't ask to be screwed over by your family!" The man says angrily. "I could have you all arrested!" he continues. "My family doesn't need to suffer. My wife, our daughter, and my step son don't deserve to suffer for what I have done to you." dad says coolly.
I carefully untangle myself from my boyfriend and walk towards my bedroom door. I slowly open the door and walk to the stairs. I sit on the first step and listen closely to the conversation. "Just as much as I want to believe you I don't because it seems your daughter might be just as bad as you are." the man says pointing up to where I am sitting on the top step. "She was probably asleep and heard your yelling. You probably startled her." dad replies. "Let the girl speak for herself!" the man says growing angrier by the second.
I get up and run to my room, I grab a sweater and pull it on receiving an odd look from my boyfriend. I come back out of my room zipping up the sweater, walking down the stairs the man locks eyes with me. "My daughter hasn't do-" the man cuts him off with a hard stare. "Now what your father said when I spotted you on the stairs, was that true?" he asks anger rising in his tone. I look up the stairs and see Chris who is clearly unhappy with the man questioning me.
"I heard voices coming from downstairs, I was curious. That's why I was on the stairs. I was also confused as to why someone was angry with my father, who is a normally very chill and relaxed person who wouldn't do anything that could potentially hurt his family." I say. "You shouldn't be questioning her. It's none of your business what she does in her own house." Chris says as he walks down the stairs. "Who the hell are you?" The man asks clearly becoming much more pissed off the closer Chris gets to the bottom of the stairs. "Her boyfriend." Chris says wrapping an arm around me protectively. "The man drops his voice and says to my father " I will come back later and if you aren't alone you are going to pay for what you've done." then the man leaves...
