"So how was work today?" I almost chocked on my orange chicken and cleared my throat with water.

"It was fine." I replied quickly, hoping to distract him from how obvious I just was. The carpet, to me anyway, was way more comfortable than the lumpy couches.

So that's where we sat. Well no that's where I made him sit. He wasn't going to get soy sauce on my couch. He was a bit of a klutz.

He arched his eyebrow and his gazed narrowed. "You know I hate it when you lie to me." I shifted. Shit. That's when I remember. I didn't even have time to shower. I'm still uncomfortable.

"Not lying." He pouted angrily and kept his intense gaze on me. "You are." He seethed. "Your body shifted, and I know when your body shifts you're lying. You're not a good liar."

Oh, if only he knew what else I'm not good at when my body shifts.

I huffed out after ten minutes of staring and cracked. "Okay!" I whined, slamming my hands into my leg. He wouldn't leave me alone until I answered him so I did.

"So something did happen at work, but it was small!" I put my pointer and thumb up using the wee bit sign indicating how little it was.

Small my ass.

"Okay... well what was it?"

"I-i got a raise!" I squeaked out, blushing immensely.

"What?!" He smiled brightly, looking me up and down seemingly impressed. "Girl you was did all that, acting all suspicious just to say that you got a raise. I oughta knock you into next week." He threatened, still keeping that same stupid goofy smile on his face.

"S-sorry." I whispered, plastering a fake smile on my face.

He motioned for me to come over next to him and I shuddered visibly. It wasn't because I didn't want to be close to him. It's because of my "raise" at the office. Every motion, every glare makes me tingle all over.

It's like his tongue had lucky charms etched into it, it was that powerful. It made you do things you wouldn't normally do. I shivered again.

But I'm pretty sure I'm going to be paid the same amount. I'll be lucky if I have a job at all. Micah's persisting staring bursted my thought bubble.

"You cold? C'mere told you about walking around with no socks on your feet." I pouted, grabbing my food and crawling over next to him.

I placed my head comfortably dead smack in the middle of his chest. "There!" He said, draping us in a small thin cover.

He kissed my forehead lovingly and cuddled my body closer to him under the blanket. I put the empty tray of food on the coffee table.

He grabbed the remote and his arm brushed past my thighs and I let out a little mewl.

Oh shit did he hear me?

He snapped his head back to me in utter confusion. There was also another expression there I just couldn't read it.

"You okay?" I nodded, desperately wanting him to keep flipping through the channels. "Uh... okay." He squinted his eyes but turned his gaze towards the tv again.

I snuggled closer and his grip around my waist got tighter, until one arm fell underneath the covers. What in the hell...

His fingers gently pried my legs apart, but he still wouldn't look at me. "M-micah, what are you doing?" I groaned, and he slowly pulled down my skirt, leaving it to dangle on my knees. I tried to close my legs again, but he pushes them apart.
