Part 2: The Void Powers

"Edgar, awaken."

"Void, you bitch. I'm trying to sleep."

"I'm sorry to disappoint you, but this day is perfect for your void training."

"Weekends are sacred days, Biblically as a day of rest, but traditionally set aside as a time to keep moral up so employers don't have to deal with grumpy employees. However, to me its a day set aside to be empty in peace. A day of pure freedom and relaxation. This day will not be blasphemed."

"This day being set aside as a day of freedom from responsibility makes for the perfect time to train im the void."

"No."

Void facepalms, pulls Edgar out of bed, and places his hand on Edgar's face which engulfs them in a fire-like shadow, pulling him the into the Void of the World.

"Welcome to the Void of the World. This is were I will teach and train you in the reward we have given you."

"Well fuck, looks like I have no choice."

"Indeed. I shall begin with explaining your void powers."

"Whatever, go ahead."

"What you must understand is that theoretically anyone can receive our gift, but to properly use them, you must lose your mind, for the powers are so intense they destroy ones mind. This unintentionally requires that you be completely empty or full, for if have either of those attributes, you have the mental strength to choose when insane and sane. With the void, you can destroy anything in the same ethereal plane as you or lower. Do you understand."

"Yeah yeah. So what do I need to do to use these powers, and why do I need to be here in the void specifically."

"The Void of the World is a place that drains the minds of lower entities, such as humans, but because of your emptiness, it takes much longer, and you can even control this insanity. The other reason we are here is thag to use you void powers you must have an initial link with the void established."

"Hm. Makes sense I suppose, but how, how does being empty or full allow oneto control their insanity?"

"That is quite simple. When one's mind is empty, the insanity fills the mind, but because of the emptiness, it cannot fill all of it, which allows you to force it out. As for being full, you are going to have to inquire of Earth for that information."

"Very well. How do I go about establishing this link with the Void of the World?"

"Nothing. You simply have to wait for the Void to consume you, then push it out. If it likes you, the link will be established, and if it does not loke you, your very soul and existence will implode quite vigorously."

"Ok."

Edgar and Void sat quietly in the Void of the World without saying a word. After about an hour and a half of silence, black, fiery, ribbons of shadow began to spiral and circle around Edgar. Shortly after they began to pick up in number and speed, eventually completely cutting off Void's view of Edgar and moving so fast they made an odd whirring sound.

"Hey Void, is this it."

"Yes."

Shortly after, the ribbons suddenly rushed to Edgar's head and flowed inside. They all quickly made their way into his head, and as soon as they were all in his head Edgar's eyes dilated to the size of a pinhead, all of his veins began to enlargen as his heart rate increased, his breathing became heavy as his diaphragm contracted harder, and a dark, shadowy, yet solid substance began to thickly coat Edgar, becoming as a suit of armor.

"...ha...hey....void....he...hehe....is this...it...."

"Yes. Now to gain control you must willingly expel the Void of the World from your mind. I must warn you. This process is extremely difficult and may lead to..."

Before Void could finish his sentence, the ribbons left Edgar's head through his mouth and went to reside in his heart.

"What? How could this be? You have done it with such ease. Others have suffered such difficulty attempting to do what you have so easily done."

"Why has it gone to my heart?"

"That is an excellent question. The Power of the Void is utilized through the void of the heart. It represents our eternal want of what we can't have, and how blood is wasted through the void of getting nothing. In the future when attempting to use The Power of the Void, imagine the Void emanating from your heart to where you need it."

"Hm. How does The Power of the Earth work?"

"That is of Earth. She will train you in The Power of the Earth. The next time this sacred event occurs once again."

"Lame. How do we get back?"
