Prologue

My life has never been average. And no, it's not below average as my foster mother would say. It's somewhere in between everything. Between middle and high school, between delinquent and genius, between love and hate, and now between a hero and a villain.

The last option isn't something you want to be. I should've learned my lesson not to get in between two supers in a fight the last time it happened, but again as my foster mother would also affirm, I've never been a particularly fast learner. Not when I'm in between life and death and my loyalties are divided between the two said Supers in the fight.

I looked at the two boys that were currently glaring daggers at each other from either side of me. Well at least the one that could see was. He flared brighter in fury, flames licking the smoldering asphalt. The other boy stood cooly across from him looking bored, but the tension in his body betrayed his actual readiness for the battle. Blue light flickered under his skin, stray sparks roaming down to the ground below.

How had I ended up being the mediator? Maybe there was no true beginning. Maybe just like my life, this collision corse started somewhere in the middle...
