danny is testing his luck with her now,
and steering clear of us.
i was so relieved when our friends all forgave me.
it feels good to be back at the group lunch table.
it feels even better to have you laying your head on my shoulder.
i asked you to prom that day,
even though prom is a couple months away still.
we've gone to every school dance together as friends,
but this time is different.
you said the final step to reel in any crush is to confess your feelings.
so that's what i did prom night.
i was so certain with the words,
"i love you,"
leaving my lips,
looking you right in the eyes.
you smiled so brightly,
i swear your eyes have stars in them.
you put your arms around my neck
as we swayed to the gentle music
in the middle of the crowd.
all i could see was you.
