Beach Time!

It was a summer day, Wednesday to be exact. My friends and I were heading out to the beach. We lived in California so the Pacific Ocean lead onto the busiest beach we had. We had no school, so our parents were dropping us off. There were five of us girls. Brianna, Ally, Brooke, Sadie and myself Erica. I wonder how the other strangers would feel about five fourteen year old girls running around being loud on a Wednesday afternoon.

The night before I had packed my lunch. I was in charge of bringing drinks so, I had went to the closest grocery store to pick up a case of Ice tea. I also bought a few other snacks like chips, cookies and an amazing juicy watermelon. Watermelon is the best for hot summer days.

When got to the beach we set up our towels on the sand. Brianna had a little tent that set up so we would be in the shade. We took our bathing suit cover ups off and ran into the water. It was not cold enough to freeze but, just to cool down.

There is a fun game that we play in the water. It is similar to tag but, every person is a different animal and the person that is trying to tag others is a wolf. Then once you get tagged you have been "eaten." It is hard to play in the water because when the waves hit, you can't run around.

By the early afternoon we were all starving from all that running. As I got out of the water I noticed that the beach had just a few people left, if not empty. I questioned it but, just shrugged it off since the clouds were starting to cover the sun. It was also starting to get quite breezy.

All of us went into the tent and had our lunch. Ally made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for everyone and since we are nerds she even cut the crust of. My mom helped me cut the watermelon earlier so it would be easy to eat and no mess was left behind.

"Do you want to go play beach volleyball?" Brooke said.

"Sure." All of us girls answered

As I was walking over to the nets, I noticed that one of my earrings had fallen out. They had meant so much to me because my great grandma had gifted them to me before she passed. My friends and I all immediately set out to look in the ocean. Even though I knew it was no use, I thought there was a small chance that they could have fallen to the sand at the bottom.

My friends looked but, eventually we grew tired. It was over. They were gone for good but, I couldn't give up now. I had to keep looking. My parents were coming to pick me up in just a few hours. What was I supposed to tell them? I was in fear of getting in trouble.
