Day one.
I woke up late as I usually do and came downstairs to find the house empty. A note was left in the kitchen. It read: "Reece, we don't know what's happening to the world, but the dead are rising. We tried to wake you, but had no luck. There are supplies left for you under our bed if you ever do wake up. You have enough to survive a week if you ration yourself. We don't know where we are headed, anywhere might be safer than here. We are sorry, and wish you the best of luck.
Mum"
Befuddled, I turned the TV on and switched it to the news channel. "Something is happening to our recently deceased. It's unclear as to what, but apparently they are rising again." Spoke the news reporter.
"The worlds top scientists say it's a disease, but have no way of proving this and are concentrating more on keeping the dead out than finding out why they're rising. Whatever it is, it's apparently best to stay as far away from it as possible, or risk losing your life or a loved ones... and rising again."
Starting to worry a little, especially about my family, I went and got the supplies, under her bed like she said there would be. I have enough food as she said, and a couple of weapons. Knives, hammers, nails etc. She knew I loved creating new things, so I'm guessing the hammer and nails were for just that. I took them and headed off toward my dad's house to check for them there.
As I'm walking down the street, I see people going out fast. They look like they're in a hurry. Maybe they just heard what's on the news and are trying to go someplace safer?
I arrived at my dad's house 15 minutes later, and to my disappointment, there wasn't a single trace of the family left anywhere in the house. The house was a shell of its former self, and I was beginning to feel this way as well.
After gaining my strength back, I left the now abandoned settlement, and headed towards the nearby shops to get some more supplies to help me last longer in this... whatever this apocalyptic event is. The time is 9pm, I will have to leave this now. I've got to prepare for the night...
