Logan's (Agent) POV.

I met her. I mean I've seen her on camera, but..I..I have never seen her in person. She was...she is the enemy. If the Alpha knew I was thinking like this...he would have my head and every other limb in my body. They are dangerous and my kind can't, can absolutely not, associate with their kind. It's forbidden.

Emerson's POV.

Ding

Panic.

That is what I see when the elevator doors open. Jackson, a journalist, was copying left and right. I think the copy machine was broken, because blank sheets of paper was shooting out of the slots.

Dixie, Junior fashion editor, also my best friend, had a white board in the middle of her office, arguing with the fashion editor and a few interns. While Debbie, in accounting, which I don't know why she was up here because accounting was on the fourth floor not the seventh, was arguing on the phone like a mad man.

The rest of the people were looking at the news on the TV. I set down the coffee and doughnuts and went to Debbie first.

"What is going on", I asked her.

"The fifth floor needs Mrs. Grants approval on the health piece, but Mrs. Grant won't come out of her office", she explained covering the phones mouth piece.

I took the phone. "Hi, this is Emerson, Mrs. Grants personal assistant. Yeah. She told me tell you to email it to her and she will have your answer by three pm today. Yeah. Uh huh. Thanks", I hung up and moved on to Jackson.

I looked at the side of the copying machine and, like always, the ' Copy all' button was red. I pushed the reset and put in the code. Jackson thanked me and I went to Dixie's office.

" No, the fall edition is ou-".

" We can't put up the winter spread in the spri-".

"No one is putting up anything without my conse-". With everyone talking at once, no one was being heard. Slowly, I backed up because fashion is not my thing. I can handle phones and copy machines, but there is a reason I spent four years studying journalism and not design.

Huffing, I go to get the Starbucks meal, but what was on the TV stopped me.

"In a freak accident, police have found a homeless man with, believe it or not, tree branches coming out of his body. In total, there are fourteen full branches counted. Police have asked anyone who witnessed anything to step up. Back to you, Johnny", the woman reporter casted. Johnny kept talking, but by that time I had tuned everything out.

That homeless man was the man I had fought off earlier. When I left he was...I'm not going to say fine because he was not fine in the brain, but he wasn't a tree when I left. I think.

Trying to forget, because I obviously didn't cause whatever happened to that pervert, I headed to Mrs. Grants office.

"EMMA! Where is my food", I hear. Quickly, I rush to her office and hand her her food.

She took the hot chocolate, lightly sipping it. I'm guessing that her husband cheated, again, because her face was streaked with tears and mascara was under her eyes. This isn't new. It happens every two months or so.

I walk out to my desk in front of her office and whisper to myself," It's Emerson".

Finally, after dealing with Mrs. Grant I'm home.

I unlock the door and go in, but I hear voices coming from the bedroom. Now, I know eavesdropping is a bad thing to do, but...I..I mean, it's not like he's hiding anything and it is not hurting anyone, so...

"No. Did you see the news? Obviously it is around here, somewhere. Yes, I know. But-. I'll ask her. And someone came in here, recklessly. She heard! I understand..". That was.. Elijah's voice. Who was he talking about? Who was he talking to? And I knew someone was in here!

All of a sudden, the door flies open and out comes a pissed off looking Eli.

"What are you doing out here? What did you hear?", He asked me, growling almost animalistic.

I have never seen Elijah like this, so it scares me.

"N..nothing. I..I heard nothing", I stuttered," I just got here".
His face visibly relaxed and his warming smile returned. And people say girls have weird mood swings.

"Anyway, babe, did you hear what happened on the news? That's weird. I.. wouldn't..you wouldn't know anything about that, right", he asked me.

I'm not sure I should tell him, although he is my boyfriend...I should tell him, right?

"Well..ok, so I was walking to work and he tried to...mug me, but then I couldn't feel him anymore. I ran and I didn't look back. When I got to work I saw the news and I was 'Damn who did that'. Not that he didn't deserve it", when I was done talking Elijah had his head in his hands.

Remember when I was talking about mood swings earlier? Elijah's laughing right now. Laughing.

"I knew it. I knew it. They didn't believe me but I knew it!", He said to himself. Suddenly, he took my hands.

"Sorry not sorry".

Then he put handcuffs on me
