Chapter 4:Memories

Depuis le début

He leaned in closer and i his lips barely brushed mine. Just that one touch made me shiver, i wanted more. I leaned into full on kiss him but he pulled away and smiled at me. I don't know how he did it so quickly but he had me wanting more. He also had me feeling stupid, i went in to kiss him and he pulled away and just laughed at me. I felt vulnerable and frustrated. I just wanted one kiss , that's all i needed, for now at least.

The next song that came on was "The Motto" by Drake. Everyone yelled and immediatly stated dancing. Apparently this was everyones jam. Trever looked at me and shrugged his shoulder asking me if i wanted to keep dancing. I didn't answer i just started moving my hips against his and let myself go.

By the time i found Gabby again it was after midnight. She was a little buzzed but not to bad, i was a litlle dissappoited in her but what can you do. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her outside. The air was cold and shocked my body. It felt refreshing after being in a packed house dancing all night. I let go of Gabby's wrist and wrapped my arm around myself.

At the time Gabby lived just down the road from the house we were at so we walked home. Gabby's parents had been out tonight too and they wouldn't be home untill at least two a.m. When we got home we both took showers to get rid of the smell of cigarettes, sweat, and alcohol. As soon as we hit her queen size bes we were both out for the night and probably half of the next day.

In the morning i woke and checked my phone for the time. 11:56. I had slept untill noon and Gabby was still sleeping. I noticed that i had one new text message and looked at who it was from. I didn't recoginize the number. I read the text.

"Hey hannah, it's trever from last night. I had a rlly good time. :) we shld hang soon. Mall next weekend??"

I couldn't believe that he was already asking to hang out. Honestly when we exchanged number i though that i would never hear from him. I though that even if he did use it that he would at least wait a few days to use it to keep me waiting and wondering about him. I  realized that Trever Long seemed like a genuine and nice guy. I programed the numer into my phone and texted him back.

"I had a good time too! I will have to check but i should be able to make it next weekend. ttyl ~ Hannah"

I waited for a reply for five minutes before faling back to sleep.

The rest of the summer contianed Trever and I hanging out with eachother almost everyday. I could tell we were both falling for each other and it was the greatest feeling in the world. At least i thought we were both falling for eachother.

Two weeks before school started I was hanging out with Trever and something totally unexpected and crazy happend. Something so bad that i can't even say it aloud. What happend that day has litterally scarred me for life. We were in town leaving the park and were passing the library when a group of guys 3-4 years older than the both of us came out. They glances at me but then set their eyes on Trever and walked straight for him. The one that got there first took Trevers shirt into his fist and almost picked him off the gorund.

There were 4 huys and 2 of them had guns. When i saw that they had weapon i slowley started backing up and walking away trying to be unnoticed. I got aorund two feet behind Trever and decided to make a run for it. I turned and sprinted to the corner as fast as i could go. I heard two shots go off behind be and i thought that they had shot Trever untill i felt an unbearable stinging pain in my right calf. I had just made it to the corner when i collapsed and used all my strenth to pull my body around the side of the restuarant that was located there.

I heard some yelling and fighting and finally the voices started to fade and disappear like the gang of guys were leaving. I focused on breathing and waited for Trever to come get me, i was sure he would come running around the corner any second.

Two hours later he still had not come to get me. Finally a  worker from the resturant came out the back door, saw me sitting up against the building crying and bleeding heavily. He ran over picked me up and rushed me to the hospital in the resturaunts take out car. On the way there i started zoning out and then everything went black.

The next time i woke up i was in a hospital bed with my parents standing on the left side staring down at me. They asked what happened and i just made up the story that i was at the park (which was true) and these kids were having an airsoft gun war but one of the guns had a real bullet in it and it hit me in the back of my right calf. They dont know anything about guns so they believed me. I couldn't believe that Trever just left me there, for all he knew, to die.

Later that night i got to go home. I had i big bandadge and one crutch until i got good enough to walk unassisted.

I never saw trever for the rest of the summer or even at school that year. He had just dropped off the side of the earth with no warning.

My parents still don't know the truth about what happend that day.

*Hope you noticed but just in case you were confused, this whole chapter was a flash back to the summer she wants to forget, the summer before freshman year
