"This looks so simple that I can't tell if maybe I'm overlooking something or if it really is just that easy."

When I looked at the scroll, or as he told me, animal skin, I noticed the drawings on it. It seemed like instructions and there were so few that I began to frown. I flipped it over but of course there wasn't anything on the back either. "Is this it?"

"What? Let me see," Celise said as she yanked the skin from my hand. "Ew why does this paper feel weird?"

"It's animal skin," Jared supplied and Cece threw the damn thing back at me which hit me in the face.

"Oh my god! Why didn't you say so in the first place?!" Cece began scrubbing her hands on the blanket as I gave her my best deadpan 'Seriously' look.

"That's why I didn't know if I had misread it or not," Jared cut in yet again.

"Well, since we are all on the same page on wondering if this is all, how about just following the instructions."

He gave me that look. The one where you say something and the other person thinks you're stupid but doesn't want to say anything out loud. I huffed. "I know that it seems illogical but worst case scenario the skin comes to life and swallows you. Or something. How bad can it be?"

I winked at him with a smirk. "Of course if you're too scared to try, I won't force you."

He glared at me in mock anger but grabbed the skin again. His wolf pushed to the forefront because I could see his eyes take on a blue hue and skin begin to ripple. Jay had gotten the fangs like I did but he didn't need to drink blood to survive; his lengthened as he bit into his palm. His blood pooled in his cupped hand before he allowed it to drip onto the skin. Magic hot like the burn of Shifter Magic began to fill the room, making my eyes burn to keep it open. Celise was a little sensitive to magic but not enough to get as strong a reaction out of her as it did me.

Jared began to sway but not like he was going to pass out. The skin in his hands began to shudder as if it had been brought back to life. Of course that wouldn't have brought on the blood curdling scream from Cece. No, it was the fact that the skin moved and latched onto Jared's arm before melting and blending into him. Things happened so fast that later I would swear that one minute I was looking at my brother, the next I was looking at a giant black wolf with ice blue eyes. I wanted to clap in congratulations but I was too scared to move. Granted I could feel that this wolf wouldn't hurt me but I was afraid of drawing attention to Celise. She was human and to a wolf that's meat.

"I'm going to try to lock on to Jared and keep him here. I need you to go to the freezer and bring in any meat you can find but don't make sudden moves or much noise, Cece," I said very calmly as I kept my eyes on the wolf. It would've been a challenge to a Werewolf but he wasn't one. Plus I was his twin and in a way if I opened our link, he'd think of me as part of himself.

Cece began to stand up and the wolf, Jared, swung his head towards her. I broke down our barriers so fast that it was proof that my brother had been pushed back as the wolf took over. If he had been the one operating then he'd have kept his shields perfectly in place. Once I was inside the wolf looked back at me and I held my hand out.

"It's okay. Come here sweet thing." My brother wasn't the same thing as this wolf, much like the Shapeshifters. The difference though was that Shapeshifters learned to almost blend with their animals instead of being separate like Jared was now.

The wolf looked at me wearily but at least it had diverted it's attention away from Celise; who finally made it to the door leading into the garage. I stretched my hand a bit further trying to get the wolf to come closer, just in case I needed to pin him down. Once he realized I wasn't a threat he came closer but kept his ears alert-sharp nails clicked on the floor with each step he took.
