(This is a detailed story that focuses on what everything looks like as I enjoy reading and writing pieces like this, hope you enjoy - Rae)

I grew bored of sitting in front of the roaring fireplace; book in hand. I could see the light outside become dimmer by the moment as the sun went back sleep for the night. A thought passed through my mind as I took in the sight of birds dancing and soaring the darkening sky. Of course I would have to act on this thought fast before night over powered the weakening day light, I pushed off my  comfortable sofa and placed my book down on the old wooden table that was placed neatly next to it.

I made my way to my hallway and found my shoes where I had left them, swiftly I slipped them and was sure to fasten the laces as so they wouldn't fall off. After all living in the mountains and rough road country side they tend to come loose while walking.

checking I had my keys and my phone I stepped out and was instantly met with a chilly breeze that nipped at my nose and cheeks leaving them a light rose colour. I locked the door and set off down the of pathway that lead to my small but homely stone cottage.

I continued to trek further up the mountain following an old dusty track that I drive my Land rover on my way to work in the mornings. It was Autumn now and winter was clearing fast in coming, not long now and there will be snow. I smiled to myself, I loved sitting inside while it snowed watching as the snow flakes float and dance to the ground creating a white blanket. But nothing like the warm and stung blanket I sit under while being warmed by the fire and hot drink in hand. the ice would make the windows fog up but would also leave pretty designs that only nature could create.

The birds were still high in the sky but I knew soon they would go back home and sleep until morning came around and they would be back to life, filling the sky with their song and beautiful feathers.

The grass was still short where farm animals had taken advantage of it during the summer months not leaving much behind but just enough to prove there was till life that autumn hadn't taken away just yet.

Just to think all this would be covered in snow maybe in the next following days.

I soon reached the top of the mountain and was given time to take in the breath taking view, trees lined the fields, they were lacking the leaves they would have during the warm and loving summer months but that didn't matter it was still quite the sight.

The sky was a orange and yellow hue, leaving the country side to be lit by the genital glow as the light chased away the shadows during the day. but as that glow weakened the shadows crept back in. taking the place they were once before.

The birds still sung happily but now they were in their homes and the animals laid down to rest, in with their mothers where they would sleep until morning woke. Brining life back to the land with its welcoming light.

But when I looked at the animals I began to realise that I should be home too, I took one last look at the sky and the lands that became increasingly darker in every passing minuet. I turned on my heel and made my descent down the old dusty path to the small but lovely cottage that await me. The place I would rest my head until I too was awoken by the suns greetings.

I soon was on the steps of my cottage when I opened the door I was greeted by the opposite of what I felt when I went out, this time it was a warm wash of air which further beckoned me inside. I stepped inside, locked the door and glided along the old wooden floors to my room at the end of the hallway. I took off my coat that I had decided to put on along with my shoes and put them away neatly in my walk in wardrobe. I lived alone but it didn't matter. Well I say alone that's when I noticed my dog has made its way onto my bed and fallen asleep. I smiled and wondered into my tiled bathroom turning on the shower to warm me from my cold outing.

I stepped under the rushing of warm water and allowed all my stress to wash away with the water as it trickles down my spine.

after by shower and the rest of my nightly routine I made my way into my room and slipped into my clean white sheets. my dog woke up but moved so she was out of the way now at the other side of the bed. I turned off the lamp and yawned a goodnight. I felt my dog reply as she nuzzled my hand and then went to sleep and I too soon followed suit.
