Chapter 26- An Awful Night

Start from the beginning

"Let her down." I heard someone growl.

I looked up to see there standing in his glorifying aura was Ethan. His eyes possessed a glint of anger as he stood there with his hands in tight fists. The stranger turned around to face Ethan which caused me to look at the dark alley, I constantly kept struggling but he tighten his grip which caused it hard for me to move around. "I suggest you keep walking on, there is nothing here for you." The stranger spoke like Ethan couldn't see me fighting to be free from his grasps.

I heard Ethan growl, "I suggest you put her down before I disfigure your face for you."

The stranger chuckled like a maniac, "You asked for it."

I was put down instantly when the stranger gripped me and pushed me hard to the side as I fell against wall which caused me to wince in pain and crumble down to the ground in discomfort. When I felt the agony descend I looked up to see the man throw a punch at Ethan which caused Ethan to fall back due to the impact. This is not going well, I saw the man advancing towards Ethan and charging towards him with a sharp blade in his hand. The man swung his arm towards Ethan but thank god he dodged it but when the stranger aimed again Ethan was not lucky. I screamed as I quickly covered my eyes not being able to see anything in the scene in front of me but I did hear him yelp in pain.

My eyes stung with tears as I thought that all this was my fault, maybe if I didn't ever string Chris along, this day wouldn't have come where I was sitting in pain as Ethan was stabbed by some rapist/murderer evil guy. I looked between my fingers to see, the stranger coming towards me when Ethan stagger towards the man and his fist made contact with the strangers face. Ethan repeatedly punched him until all I could see was blood everywhere. Once the stranger wasn't moving or making a sound Ethan pushed him towards the ground as he fell down with a big thump. I slowly stood up and saw Ethan standing with his hair all over the place, the sexy clothes he was wearing was now all creased with blood smeared on them. Even with his dreadful appearance, to me he looked so damn sexy. I ran to Ethan as he opened his arms for me, when my body contacted with his I instantly felt safe as his warm body comforted mine. I buried my nose in his shirt and let his delicious perfume linger into my senses to help me calm my frantic heart. I couldn't help but cry into his arms as he held me tightly against himself. We stood there in the middle of the creepy alley in each other's arms not saying a word or making a sound the only thing we needed was each other at that moment.

After a few minutes he detangled himself from me putting some distance between us which I didn't like at all. He softly touched my face and asked with concern, "Are you okay?"

I couldn't say a word to I opted out for a small nod. "So he didn't do anything to you?" I shook my head. Ethan sighed in relief.

"A-are you okay? Are you hurt?" I now asked.

"I'm fine." He whispered as he held my wrist in his hands and saw the little bruises; he slowly grazed his fingers tips against it causing my heart to flutter. I cleared my throat trying to ignore the divine feeling, "I saw the guy charge towards you with blade, where did he hurt you?" I inquired as I gazed down his body to see if he was hurt.

"I'm fine let's just get out of here." He said. He held my hand and he guided me to his car.

Not once did we speak as he drove all I was feeling and thinking was that I was grateful that Ethan was there when I needed someone the most. We didn't even utter a word when he walked me to my apartment but I couldn't help but steal glances towards Ethan as he ambled on trying to mask the pain he was feeling. Once outside my door I broke the silence, "You coming in right?" I asked.

He looked at me before looking away and muttered, "I need to go I got work to do."

I rolled my eyes as I unlocked the door and turned towards him "Let me rephrase that, you are coming in with me." I gripped his wrist with my hand and pulled him inside. The apartment was in darkness I guess Sally was in bed which I was thankful for. I switched the lamp of the seating room and pulled Ethan with me until I pushed him to sit on the sofa as I went to the kitchen to get the aid kit.

I sat next to him while I picked up the alcohol-free wipes and dabbed it on the grazes on his face. He winced in pain before saying, "You don't need to do this."

"I know but I want to." When I finished cleaning up his face, I asked him again, "Where did he hurt you with the blade?"

He ignored my question, "I'm fine, Myra."

I sighed in frustration, "I'm going to ask you again, where did he hurt you?"

He smirked at me, "I like your bossy attitude."

I felt my cheek heat up due to his remark but I didn't let it go easily, I narrowed my eyes in an annoyed expression. "Okay fine." He muttered. He rolled his sleeves up to see a big gash on his bicep, I gasped in shock to see so much blood. I quickly wiped the blood and his cut with the wipes before bandaging it up.

"Are you hurt anywhere else?" I asked worried. He shook his head. "Good." I muttered as I started to put everything away before Ethan held my hand, I looked up at him, "What do you think you are doing?"

"Putting everything away." I answered.

"Who's going to clean your wounds?"

"I'm fine."

"Give me that." He held his hand out.

"No, I'm fine."

"Myra, give me that." He demanded. I placed the kit in his hands as he got stuck into it.

He took a quick glance at me before he brought the wipe to my chin where I felt sore; I winced at the cool wipe stinging me. I looked up at him as he concentrated on the task on hand, I couldn't help but take the chance of admiring him I doubt I will ever get the chance of being so close to him again. I couldn't help but smile at him the way he bit his lip as he focused on me I found it very cute.

"What's got you smiling?"

"Oh nothing." I shrug as I tried to keep my face straight.

"Must be something." He looked at me curiously.

"Oh I was just thinking you're cute." I blurted out. When I realised what I said I tried to rectify it, "I-I mean I was just thinking of my teddy bear he's so c-cute." I rambled but soon as I said those words I wanted to slap myself really hard. I mean come on I'm twenty two and mentioning a teddy bear he must think I'm such a baby.

He smirked showing his beautiful white teeth, "A teddy bear."

I scratched my head before saying, "Yes."

"I actually preferred it when you said I was cute."

My heart stopped, "What!" I whispered.

"Have you hurt yourself anywhere else?" He asked like he never heard me.

I tried to concentrate on what he was saying, "Erm no, my body just feels sore I'm sure I would feel better once I had a shower." I mumbled.

"Yeah that's a good idea." He stated as he started to put everything back into the aid kit. "I think it's best if you take the week off."

"Why? I'm okay."

"I just think it will do us some good."

I realised that I had forgotten about what happened earlier on with Chris. Maybe he remembered this and thinks we should have some space. But I need to explain to him, this is the perfect time to do it.

"I'm sorry." I'm sure apologising is the best way to start because everything that happened tonight was my fault. "With Chris and that man, I'm sorry about everything. I really want to explain that the situation with Chris.." I started to play with my fingers due to getting nervous I didn't know what to say but before I could carry on Ethan interrupted.

"Myra, it's none of my business but thank you for helping me with my injuries but I really need to go. Just remember you have the week off. Bye." He quickly spoke like he was itching to get away from me, he gave me quick kiss on the cheek and walked off. I looked up to see him but he was gone. I sat there thinking I messed things up with Ethan, nonetheless as I pondered on, a hope started to flicker deep inside me. If he didn't care about the situation with Chris he would have let me explain but he didn't which meant he must have some feeling for me. At that moment I felt giddy and happy as I skipped to my room and closed the door to an awful night but with the hope of better nights to come with the handsome Ethan.
