(5 months after war starts (let's say April) )
"Tobi! I'm home!" a feminine voice rang out through the house. To many, a simple voice means nothing, but to the young 3 year old in the house it meant everything. A tiny blur of white and brown shot through the house and tackled the woman at the door without a second to spare.
"Hi big sissy!" The young girl giggled. The older girl smiled, picking up Tobi. At the commotion a male voice piped up from the kitchen,
"Megan? You're home so soon?" The voice sounded worried. "Is everything alright?" The man walked into the front room. The older girl, Megan who was 17 at the time, looked up from Tobi and shared a look with the man. Setting down the three year old she said,
"Tobi, go see Baba little one. We can play later." The young girl pouted but nodded, smiling very soon after and took off to another area of the house.
"Megan?" The man spoke up again, his red eyes worried. Megan looked up with her own red eyes meeting the man's, worry clashed with fear and the man stepped forwards pulling the girl close as she burst into tears. He was quiet as she cried, just holding her close until she finished.
"Papa..." her voice came out as a small whisper, "They arrested Dad and Mama." She pulled away wiping her eyes.
"Their manager at work said they'd been stealing from the store...they didn't even investigate or anything..." Megan explained, growing more distraught. She was radiating anger. All directed at the stout Amestrian woman that ran the store. Ms.Yuki always had a pinched look on her face, as if she'd eaten something sour.
The air has been tense ever since that officer had shot the young girl. Riots had been breaking out all over Ishval, taking innocent lives with them. Then the eastern military had been sent in. Megan paced around the room in silence.
"Papa, I don't think we are safe anymore..."

Megan sighed softly as she walked to pick Tobi up from school. The, now six years old, child was livid when she found out she could no longer walk home alone with her friends. Baba had to take her aside and explain to her just why she couldn't.
Megan shook her head smiling softly. That woman had the best ability to make a euphemism for anything. As she reached the end of the street, a medium size stone building appeared in her sight. The was decorated with wreaths of dried flowers that the children made. The schoolhouse seemed to be the only place to keep its light, airy mood. Even then, the teachers were still on edge...
"MEGA!" The was a shout as the brown and white blur appeared again. Tobi, having seen her sister made a beeline to the young woman, tackling her to the ground. When she could finally catch her breath Megan started laughing for the first time in a while. Her arms shot up around the small child picking her up, spinning her around one before keeping her on her hip.
As the small girl started yammering on about her day, Megan was hardly listening. All she could do was look at her little sister. Taking in every little feature. From the girls shoulder length silvery white hair, to her crimson eyes and her caramel brown skin.
When would her sister be ripped mercilessly away from her too?

The air was foul. The presence of gunpowder and blood iron made Megan's stomach turn. In the past year and a half not much had happened. Baba passed away, but it was in peace while she slept. The great grandmother of the two girls had lived to a ripe old age of 112 years. Megan remembered Baba saying that her only regret, was her life ending surrounded by such violence.
Papa was coming around in years as well. Although the man didn't look it, their grandfather was 78. He had insisted, with great argument on Megan's part, that Tobi be taught how to fight. After much argument, Megan relented and Tobi started going to their Uncle Cairo for fighting lessons.
Tobi on the otherhand, had grown to become quite a handful. She had an obsession with climbing buildings and large outcrops. The child would also constantly fraternize with the Amestrian Dogs.
She could remember full well the first time she caught Tobi talking to one of them...

Megan walked down the street trying to find Tobi. Her ears were full of the sound of her heart pumping as panic swelled in her. Then she heard it. Tobi's voice.
"Really?" The seven year olds chipped tone came from around the corner. A males voice followed,
"Yup! She's due any month now and I bet she'll be just as gorgeous as my darling Gracia!" Although Tobi could be heard laughing, Megan picked up the pace and got around the corner,
"Tobi!" She snapped. "Come on. We're going home, you know better than to wander." She said. Her eyes were fixed in a wary glare. One look at his lapel told her he was a captain. The man looked up, brown eyes filled with concern could be seen past his glasses lenses.
"I don't mean any trouble Ma'am." He said standing. He was a foot or so taller than Megan.
Megan shot him a withering gaze.
"That what you people said before my aunt was shot for trying to hold back one of my own people from harming one of you..." she took Tobi's hand and leading her off.
"Mega he's not like the others..." Tobi said forlorn. Megan held Toni's arm in an iron grip however, pulling her away. Tobi turned and smiled at the man.
"It was nice meeting you Captain Hughes!" She chirped.

Megan sighed softly and shook off the memory. Tobi would be fine...
Wouldn't she?

The Extermination
Chaos. That's what it was. People running everywhere, screaming, children crying. It was worse than chaos. Megan held tightly to her 10 year old sisters hand as she led her down the road, into the alley ways, trying to avoid the carnage. The sound of gunshots firing was loud over the screams of their fellow Ishvalans.
Megan's heart leapt into her chest as a soldier turned the corner. As soon as he saw them his hands went up. Megan took a step back, holding Tobi to her protectively. She would die before she let Tobi get hurt. She looked up defiantly at the man. Tearfilled crimson eyes met cobalt blue-black eyes. The man looked around and lowered his hand.
"Go." He spoke low. Megan blinked in shock. She didn't move. He sighed softly, it mixing into a low growl and he moved forwards pulling Megan up, looking her directly in the eyes, repeating himself with more conviction this time.
"Go!" Megan nodded, taking Tobi's hand.
"Thank you." She said, but he was gone. Morgen started running, Tobi's hand in her own. It seemed like forever before they took a break. Megan leaned on her knees breathing deep and quick.
"Mega...?" Tobi asked worried. Megan looked up and smiled, albeit weakly.
"I'm okay. Let's keep going Tobes." Megan pushed herself up taking Tobi's hand. They made it a few more feet before a bright flash of alchemical light was seen, and a huge wall of glass appeared and locked them in.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" A female voice chuckled, "Two little mice out of their cage."
Megan moved in front of Tobi again, taking her hand. Then she said the words that decided the outcome for her.
"W-we don't want any trouble." She said. The woman laughed appearing from the shadow of the alleyway.
"Trouble? Oh no dear of course not." A smirk crossed her features. "Since when was entertainment trouble?" She raised her hand, which was covered in a silver gauntlet covered in alchemical symbols. Upon further inspection it was easy to tell that she was a state Alchemist.
"Tobi. Run." Megan said softly.
"Oh yes Tobi run away and let me dispose of this mouse. It's diseased." The woman sneered. "Maybe I'll deal with the tiny mouse first." Waving her covered hand, the gauntlet sparked as a pillar of sand shot from the wall, turning to glass as it hit Tobi away. She let out a cry as she hit the other wall.
"Tobi, run!" Megan exclaimed in a panic. The woman formed a large spear of glass in her hands and slowly began to make her way towards Tobi.
"Those who cross paths with me rarely live to see a next sunrise." The woman whispered to Tobi as she came closer. Tobi on the other hand was paralyzed with fear.
"Everyone knows that when a mouse falls into a trap there is no escape. Either they die, or they don't go near the trap at all." She smirked and launched the spear. Tobi flinched with a scream covering herself with her arms in a weak attempt at protection. She waited, shaking, anticipating the pain. But it never came.
Cautiously, Tobi opened her eyes. She couldn't even scream. Her sister stood, eyes blank but not yet dead, the giant glass spear had pierced her chest and cam out through the back. With a choked breath she turned, shaking, clothes stained with blood and said three words. Before collapsing to the ground.
"R....run...a-and live..."
((A/N - heyo watermelons. I know this first chapters kinda scrappy but I can't give ALL the exposition in the first chapter. I'm kinda experimenting because I've never put a fanfic out there before. Anyways, enjoy. I'll try to post a new chapter every day to every two days.
