Pigment is a Figment

Pigment is a figment of historical humanity
A conditioned decision that some hues harbor vanity
and live lavishly
while other tones are prone to insanity.
But why, in reality,
should color control the collar of a family?
"Oh, you're black so your blood isn't blue?"
is just like "Damn, white girl, you got some ass on you!"
If you're unsure how that's relevant
I know it's less-than-elegant,
but it's offered up to show you
two typical terms of prejudice.
The situation's laughable once you actually think;
There's a million skin colors and we're all unique,
but oh, so many years of prejudice has severed our link
Now we're checking off ethnicities, that's further deceit.
But me?
I won't pick a single one until there's a solution.
"Are you Mexican?....Black, Caucasian?"
"No, sir, I'm just human."
