"Umm.. hey guys."

The hum of chatter stopped as quickly as it started, and twenty pairs of eyes turned to the stranger that was hovering awkwardly in the doorway.
He waited a few more seconds for a type of reaction from us, I suppose.

However, none came.

"Come in, boy. I'm not gonna bite," said Mr. Lees, nodding his head towards the empty space in front of him. The stranger walked in swiftly, threw his bag on the floor beside Mr. Lees' desk and looked around the classroom, taking everything in, his platinum blonde hair shining in the sunlight that streamed in through the window.

The first thing I noticed about him were his eyes, and by the look of it, so did everyone else; their gaze was fixed on them, one dusty grey, the other a brilliant blue.

"So." Mr Lees snapped us all back to reality, "this is the new pupil that moved in from London. Tell us a bit about yourself, Leon."

Leon. Such a simple name for this athletic god.

"Um. Yeah. So, I came here from London. My mum's a lawyer. We had to move here, to Brighton, because of business and... stuff. So. Here I am." He chuckled nervously. I looked around the room while he paused. He was probably searching for ideas for what to say next.

It seemed to clearly not interest the Ass Kissers in the corner, however (to clear any confusion, that's the nickname Nikki and I very cleverly came up with for the popular girls. Their squad name is a big clue to what they're like) seemed heavily uninterested in anything he was saying (or about to say) as they were too busy checking him out; I swear I could see Karina drooling. Disgusting. They're the type of girls you see on 16 And Pregnant. No surprise.

"I play tennis professionally, and I want to play for Britain one day." He seemed to warm up to the topic, speaking more easily than he previously has done. "I mean, who knows what will happen? Well, that's catch: you don't."

The people who were actually listening laughed, and the Ass Kissers followed suit, oblivious of what had just been said.

I felt a pang of jealousy at this; how come he gets everyone laughing at his joke on his first day, while it took me weeks to adjust to the whole system?

A hand tapped my shoulder, interrupting me from my thoughts. I turned around and saw Andrew, who Nikki and I sometimes hang out with, and was handed a note.

To Tan, it said. Leon was still talking about himself, and paying no notice to what was happening in my area of the classroom. I opened the note.

Who knows what will happen?
Well that's the catch: you don't, ya dumb bishh.

I held in a laugh, and turned around to where Nikki was sitting.

What the hell?

She just smiled.

Later that day, I thought about what she said. I didn't believe in faith, or luck, or whatever other BS people believe in. Including Leon.

But I soon came to the conclusion that boy was he right.

Sorry if it's a bit short!
It's kind of an introduction type... thing (I'm good at this, I know) but I'm also kinda new. The rest of the chapters get significantly longer though.

Innuendo anyone?

I'll show myself out.

Bye, my children ✌🏻
