Evan's pov

I'm sitting in the cafeteria writing in my journal. I'm really nervous about today. I don't know why, it's just like any other day. I sigh and close my journal and look up. Walking into the cafeteria are two kids I've never seen before. One looks like a walking funeral, and hes probably a drugee. But the other, she's absolutely breathtaking. She has light brown hair styled with a hair clasp in the back and simple makeup, for she obviously doesn't need too much. She has absolutely stunning pale blue eyes and very fair skin. I feel my breath catch in my throat.

Then I slump down...

Reality that I am an outcast geek with zero chance of ever dating or even talking to her settles in. I sigh and glance back at the other kid. He's extremely lanky with messy brown, shaggy hair. He has an angry, almost mean look on his face. I recognize him after a minute as the figure that was watching me last night from their window. Creepy. These two can't possibly be related.

"Evan!" Jared's voice makes me jump as he interrupts my thoughts.
"AH!" I shout, earning unwanted looks from people at surrounding tables.
"Hahaha! Wow, evan, jumpy much?" Jared laughs at me.
"It's not funny" I sigh, looking down.
"I dunno"Jared hums. "That was pretty comedic to me. " He states.
" 'course it was" I rest my elbows on the lunch table, cupping my face with my good hand.
"Whoa, is that the new girl?" Jared asks, drawing out a whistle. "She's hot."
"Yeah. " I agree. "You think she likes trees?"
"Evan. NO ONE in their right mind likes trees. " He rolls his eyes. I sigh and get up and leave Jared as I head to the library. When I get there I go through the aisles. I just look through all the non-fiction books about herbs and trees and everything in between. I find a plant encyclopedia ands sit in the far end of the aisle, my back to the white stone wall.
I get really into the book as a pair of legs stop in front of me. I slowly look up from the combat boots and black skinny jeans that are eye level with me. Black hoodie. Higher up, the face of the new boy.
"Why are you on the floor?" He asks.
"Its quiet" I shrug as I close the encyclopedia.
"It's a library, everywhere is quiet." He leans on the bookshelf connected to the wall.
"fair enough" I shrug again, hoping he'd take the hint. Instead he kneels by me and inspects the blank white cast on my arm. He reached into his pocket and pulls out one of those really fat and large black sharpies. He pries the cap off of it with his teeth and holds the cap in his mouth as he holds his hand out expectantly for my arm.
"Any day now. " He huffs. I hesitantly move nearer so he can comfortably reach my cast.
In large, obnoxious lettering he writes "CONNOR" across the cast.
"Connor?" I ask.
"That's the name." He nods.
"I-im evan." I introduce myself and cringe at my unsteady voice.
"Well, evan," connor says as he pulls himself back up off the floor. "I'll see you around." He leaves me there on the floor, staring at the lone name on my cast. I dont understand why having only one name on the cast was more depressing than having none.
I slowly get up when the bell signaling us to go to class rings.

I walk into my first period, algebra. I hate math. Numbers don't get along with me too well. They cause me horrible stress and it aggravates me. Jared walks in and takes his seat in front of me. He turns in his seat to look at me.
"Dude, where'd you run off to this morning? We could have been talking about how cute the new girl is. " Jared nudges me.
"Oh please" I sigh. "It's not like she'd ever notice one of us. "
"Well maybe not with that attitude."
"Jared, no matter what attitude, she's clearly out of out league." I roll My eyes.
"Well maybe your league, but not mine. " Jared brags with self confidence.
"No. Definitely out of yours too. " I shake my head.
"Fuck you. " He grumbles, turning Around to face the front of the room. I sit quietly and wait for class to begin.

To my surprise, the new girl walks into class. She slides into the empty desk beside me. I feel my face great up and my heart start pounding. She glances at me.
"Hey, are you okay? You don't look too good. " She asks
"H-huh? Oh! Y- yeah! I'm fine! " my voice cracks.
"Okay." She seems slightly concerned over my demeanor. She turns to face the teacher as he starts the lesson
