Lily woke up with a start, sitting up with sweat on her pale skin but she couldn't remember what had woken her up so suddenly. She looked at the time and saw that it was three o'clock in the morning.
With a sigh, Lily crawled out of her comfy bed, the want to stay in bed still there but she knew that she wouldn't be able to fall back asleep. The tip of her toes touched the cold cement that was her floor. She had always been in the basement, her parents had given up on her and pushed her away which pained her but she didn't show it. Lily liked being in the basement because nobody could hear her. Lily also always liked the coolness of the floor, it alsways relaxed her.
Lily looked over into the darkness at her desk that was barely visible, her mind immediately went to the invisible girl in her classroom, but she shook her head to make herself feel less guilty and rid her mind of the girl. After all, she couldn't do anything and that girl couldn't either.
She slowly walked out to her desk, reaching for the lamp as she turned it on. The light lit up part of the dreary room that she has always had. She used to like it as it reminded her of the night sky, but now it reminded her of the sadness held within her soul.
Lily pulled the chair out and sat down, she was lucky this time because the chair didn't make a sound. She took out a piece of paper and a pencil, starting to draw.
When she was little, she would draw so many beautiful and pretty things but now all she could draw was dark creatures, it was just like her with her voice. Someone took the beauty within her mind and turned it into something else. What was a beautiful live tree became a dark, scary version of that tree. What was a unicorn became a broken horse.
Even though her drawings became dark, she couldn't stop drawing, she knew that if she did, she would fall further and eventually disappear like the girl did.
After a couple hours of doodling, she heard her parents leave for their work. This was her cue to get up and get ready for school. Lily stood up as she walked to her door and slowly pulled it open. The door creaked as she did so, causing her to bite her lip. She opened the door enough to where she could swueeze through.
Lily let out a silent sigh as she walked quietly to the bathroom and entered, leaving the door wide open since no one was home.
The shower had always soothed Lily because it sounded like rain. She peeled her clothes off, enjoying the feeling of being free. Clothes had always made her feel confined, hidden underneath a layer of fabric but she would never go out in public naked.
Lily stepped into the shower, letting the water flow down her body, washing the sweat away and the nightmare that seemed to still rack her body.
After a few more minutes, she got out of the shower, a bit saddened by leaving the shower Lily wrapped a towel around her body and stared at herself in the mirror. She did not like what she saw as she turned herself away. Lily quickly dried off and walked to her room with her dirty clothes in hand. She then slipped on new clothes that were school appropriate.
Lily never bothered with bringing her backpack to school, all she needed was a notebook and pencil. As she entered the school, she walked by everyone, feeling like she was a puppet being controlled with every step she took.
As she walked, she looked up,making the worst decision ever. To greet her eyes was a girl named Paige, the invisible girl. Paige had noticed as Paige kept her head down. At the exact moment they passed, Paige looked at Lily, causing her to look away as she tensed.
Fear over took Lily as she sped up her pace, making it to her first class, math. This was her favorite class but not her favorite classroom. She was extraordinarily good at math, so much so that if people could hear her, they would bump her up to college math. Her classroom had a teacher who had favorites, posting up papers of the "smartest" students in her class. Sadly, the teacher hated Lily and Lily's papers were never posted.
The classroom also had jerks and assholes in them, complete bullies and for some reason their papers were always posted even though it was the work of someone else.
The only exceptionable person in the classroom is Paige. Paige had walked in a couple minutes after Lily had entered the classroom. Paige is unsee but she is always heard, she is admirable. Paige always says the answers, getting them right every time but no one knows that it comes from her. But for Lily, she is pushed around when she is seen so she can't even be heard through sight.
Paige and Lily were sitting in the same row but on opposite sides of the classroom which helped Lily as she wouldn't want to look at Paige as much. The teacher after about seven minutes came into the classroom and said "study hall." Her words had almost made Lily dance slightly as she felt happy but held herself back as to not be heard. If she had danced, her chair would have squeaked and the bullies would have noticed her.
Lily peeked over at Paige and saw the pained smile, seeing paige sit up straighter, hoping for simeine to see her smile. Lily stood up and left the classroom, silently going to the bathroom where she sat in a stall that was never used just like she was never loved.
