It felt like it was forever ago, even though it was yesterday. The memory of her flooded Dan's sleep filled mind. Her beautiful [h/c] curls illuminated the warm, soft sunlight. The smile she wore on her face. Oh, that was what he remembered the most. Her smile reached down even to the darkest parts of him, filling it with light. His eyes fluttered open, soft rays of sunlight glistened through his window, filling his room with light. He sat up, and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Maybe if I go back, she will be there. It was a longshot, he thought. But, it was worth a try. Dan got up, and dressed. He walked down the stairs and heard humming. It was his best friend, Phil Lester. Phil looked over, "Good morning Dan!" He said looking up, and smiling. He realized Dan's face expression was sullen. "Dan you ok?" Phil asked. "Yeah" He said. Phil didn't even have to ask what has happened. He and Phil had a connection, Phil seemed to know what Dan was thinking just by making eye contact. That's why they were best friends. That connection between them was real.

He sat down, and looked out the window. The neighbors were drilling, as usual. Sometimes he wished for just silence. Phil sat a cup of coffee in front of Dan. "Your favorite!" He said to Dan. "I'm going out today." Dan said, looking away from the window and turning torwards Phil. "Where?" Phil inquired. Dan simply shrugged, and stood up. He headed torwards the door. "I will see you later." Dan said, opening the door and stepping out.
