"What did you say?" He asked innocently.
"Oh nothing," I gave him a sweet smile.
"Are you sure? Cause I heard you say-" I knew as he started to talk that he heard my little remark and surely within few seconds he would ask me to explain what I meant and honestly the answer itself was dreadful to say to my boss unless I wanted to get fired that is.
For that reason before he could finish his question I interrupted him, "I really need to go I just remembered I need to pick up Sally's dry cleaning." I said while I picked up my coat and rushed out to get away from him.
"But-" I heard Ethan speak from behind.
I turned around to face him as I continued to walk backwards. "I'm sorry but I really need to go I shall see you at 7." I waved at him before sliding into a clustered lift. As the doors slowly slid shut I could see Ethan in his suit standing in the middle of the corridor looking straight at me with a confused expression. Great I just made a fool of myself, I'm sure he knew I was dying to get out of that place away from him. But honestly if he asked me to explain what I meant by saying 'Must be with the girls you go out with' I would have died right there and then. I mean how I could I say to my boss well you must be dating girls who just think about is how they look. There you go I couldn't say that to him unless I wanted him make my life living hell while I worked for him or the second option that I would not like at all; to fire me.
When I stepped into my apartment Sally was sitting on the sofa with used up tissues scattered everywhere and in the middle was Sally sobbing away. Seeing her in that state got me really worried I sat down next to her and put my arms around her, "What happened Sally?" I asked her softly.
She hugged me tightly and started crying, "M-Myra I'm so upset."
"What happened?" I asked worried as I tried to soothe her with weaving my fingers through her hair. She sat up and blew her nose in a tissue before she said, " H-how could he die?"
My heart sped up with fear and worry seeping through my frozen body, "Who died?" I asked even though I was scared for the answer.
"W-Will." She wailed.
"Will?" I asked her confused, as far as I know there is no Will I know.
"Who's Will?"
"Will, he died" She placed the book into my hands.
"Let me get this straight, you're crying over a character?"
"It's not just a character, he was more than that-"
I couldn't help but interrupt Sally's sentence by laughing so hard. "Oh gosh! Your sitting here bawling your eyes over a character and I was there thinking the worst." I clenched to my stomach as I giggled.
"You can laugh as much as you want but if you read this I will guarantee you will be in tears." She sniffed.
"No I wouldn't." I rolled my eyes at her.
"Fine I'll bet you twenty quid." Sally challenged me.
I chuckled, "This is too easy."
"Oh, we shall see." She narrowed her eyes.
After a while I decided to tell Sally about the business dinner I have with Ethan. "And he has invited you?"
"Yes it doesn't make sense."
"OMG this is his plan of alluring you to spend an evening with him!" Sally exclaimed as she clapped her hands together in excitement.
"Erm no, sorry to point out but there will be others at this dinner." I explained.
