Chapter 25- Three's a Crowd

Start from the beginning

"But..." My smile faltered slightly not liking that stupid word. "You didn't mention anything I said after that."

I cleared my throat and admitted my mistake. "Okay I'm sorry, I was busy day dreaming."

He chuckled which caused my heart to soar, "I thought so, well I was saying you could go home early today because you are occupying me to a business dinner."

"Me!" I croaked as I pointed at myself.

"Yes."

"Why me?" I asked confused. I was just a simple receptionist it's not like I could woo any of his business partners or clients.

He leaned down towards me and slowly took my hair strand between his long fingers and moved it behind my ear as he tenderly spoke. "I want you to come."

The small gesture made my heart skip a beat as I ogled at him. The light five o'clock shadow on his chin was showing making me want to graze my fingers against it. "O-okay," I stuttered.

"Great!" He exclaimed as he moved away from me putting some distance. "I will pick you up at seven." I just meekly nodded my head.

Ethan gave me one last warm smile before he turned around and strode away into his office. As soon as I heard the office door close I picked up my mobile and quickly called Sally. I think I was having a panic attack; I tried to take deep breaths to calm myself down.

"Hey this is Sally please leave a message after the beep." I cut the damn call off. It's gone straight to voicemail! How am I going to get in contact with her? I'm going to dinner with Ethan and I know this will end in disaster, it always does! Remember my date with Chris, eurgh that was bad, very bad.

Myra you need to calm down! The date with Chris was awful but remember this is NOT a date, it's a business dinner. Don't mix the two up!

At last my mind was giving me some helpful advice; yes I cannot mix the two up. I stood up from the chair and rolled my shoulders back as I took deep calm breaths to steady my shaking terrified body. Once I had calmed down, I sat down and got stuck in some work. I did check on Ethan's schedule to see who he was going to meet at dinner but there was nothing on the system, he must have sorted it out personally.

All I did throughout my work was to avoid thinking about dinner or else I would be having a major heart attack. Okay. I am being a bit dramatic but you must understand what I'm going through. I even missed lunch because I know for a fact I wouldn't be able to keep anything down because the stupid butterflies in my stomach would not settle.

It was half four in the afternoon when Ethan came out from his office and he seemed shocked to see me sitting at my desk. "What are you still doing here?" He asked.

I pushed my loose hair strands out of my face when I answered, "Just finishing some work off."

"Shouldn't you be at home getting ready for the dinner?"

"Oh shit!" I stood up abruptly, "What time is it?" I asked in a panic while I gathered my things in a rush.

"Half four."

"Half four?" I repeated to myself before calming myself down, "You frightened me there for a moment, I thought I would be late but it's only half four." I stated as I started to put my work in the file cabinet.

"Well don't you women need like hours to get ready?"

I turned around to face Ethan, "That is so sexiest!" I exclaimed.

"No it's not, it's a fact." He stated with a smug.

"Must be with the girls you go out with." I muttered under my breath but unfortunately Ethan heard every word.
